Actually I think Froch would come out as the aggressor in a Bute fight, so I'd see Bute in Froch's spot fighting off of his backfoot. Work the long jab in, Carl... Lucian's getting more & more comfortable throwing right hooks.
After the ice bath, there is pilates... Well, we're laughing but if Bute KO's Johnson, we shall all begin pilates.
Thanks for the vid. I can see that some of the stuff he made was very very hard. Not surprising from a world class athlete, but far from easy. And you could see he wasnt comfortable yet with the movement, but was catching up pretty fast.
This is the "new" way of training, before (whatever the sport) it was too much of the traditional stuff and not enough of everything that helps you in the long run. For example, I work in swimming and the kids cant jump. So yeah they did trizilion hours of swimming, which is not bad, but as they climb to the top we want them to improve the dive and the flips and they cant push good and their core body is weak. So for a couple of years now we work a lot more in dryland to improve these aspect and a lot sooner. Even this Olympic year, the national center in Montreal for he first couple of months, they start with more dryland than water training. I dont want to talk too much about swimming, but it's the same in each sports. It seems weird, but when you think about it, it makes sense.
I'm no boxing coach, but you need you thighs to work good in endurance and quickness, not in strength. So you dont need them big and strong. In fact, if they are too big, they makes your overall body heavier and so you are not in the division you might want to and finally those are the biggest muscle of the body and you dont want them to drain all the blood you have there and you dont want them to produce lactic acid which then spread to all your body.
Damn! If you pause at 2:21 you can see the damage his toes got from sudden change of direction, I got 1 from playing soccer but it healed in few months but his got one on every finger. It's shocking and a bit disturbing.
The guy is 6'2'' in the 168 division. So in a way he is very thin. Pac wanted to move up, he cant grow up, so the solution is to buff up. And he didnt move only 1 or 2 divisions too. For Tyson and all the heavies, they dont care for the weight. Again, even if you remove the "weight" factor that those two have, maybe a boxing coach/boxer can answer this, but my point about too big muscle for what they consume in energy, what they produce in waste (lactic acid for example), what you loose in flex and in quickness, etc etc etc. edit: I'm not trying to "defend" Bute about his seemingly thin leg. I'm just stating some reason that may explain it, from my point of view. If having big and strong thighs are important and Bute's coaches dont adress it while they are indeed improving the upper body, there must be some explanation.
