If Pac was ducking, it was not JMM that he ducked but Soto since he and his team made it clear that they are moving up in weight.

I'm willing to bet that if Pac comes in at 148, he's still gonna blow JMM away.
I'd like to be proven wrong by JMM tho.
That way this fight is still going to add to Pac's legacy.

I dont see how not blowing Marquez away will add to Pacquiao's legacy.
Even if Pacquiao gets a late stoppage in a fight thats close, the fight can be chalked up to Marquez fading from not carrying the weight comfortably.
Pacquiao gains nothing here. He's a fool for not taking the fight at 140 lbs to legitimize somewhat a win over Marquez.

We'll actually, maybe Pacquiao is'nt a fool for not taking the fight at 140 lbs. He stands alot better chance of losing to Marquez at a weight thats fair to both.

I'm not saying legacy in terms of an ATG placing.
I'm thinking more of a "finally shut JMM and his fans up" legacy.

Although I agree that it's best at 140, one thing I can say for sure is this fight will show how Pac has improved with his timing, balance and ring IQ.
The first 2 fights have both shown Pac repeating the same moves over and again and JMM countering those same moves with precision timing and accuracy, but this time, JMM will be in the ring with a completely different animal.

But yeah, the way you see it, this is a win-win situation for Marquez:
    - If Pac blows him away, it's bec of the 4lb-weight difference from an ideal weight of 140
    - If it's competitive, it's props to JMM and Pac never really improved

    So no use debating really.

At least I will give props to Pac if he's the first boxer to ever knock JMM out and make JMM look like ODLH. In fishnets.

JMM needs to box not brawl. JMM shouldn't trade punches with Pacquiao since the latter is faster than the former in the hand speed dimension. Pacquiao will send JMM to sit on the canvas again in the third match. I bet my house on it.

The last fight i watched Marquez in was against Katsidis and JMM got tagged ALOT in that fight and also went down. Although i like Katz very much and think hes a quality boxer, he isn't in Pac's league. If Katz was able to tag JMM repeatidly then what will Pac do? He is faster and more powerful

    Really?

Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez would disagree.

There are too many holes in Pacquiao's fight game for him to be considered in the elite class. However, he is very good @ what he does...

Every boxer has weaknesses, its just up to others to exploit it. The great Ali had them but that doesn't make him any less Elite does it?

Elite Class are fighters at the top level and Pac is there. So are fighters like JMM and Mosley. You can lose and still be elite. The best boxer out there at the moment is Floyd, as he has the least number of difficiencies. However, he is not invincible, it's just a boxer isn't out there that can beat him at the moment.

    A myth.

If Pacquiao were a "completely different animal" then why does Roach feel the need to make changes to Pacquiao's style to cope with Marquez' jab?

If anything, based on this new information, I think an argument can be made that Pacquiao has regressed.

I mean, really, who has he been fighting lately? Slick boxer types? Master counter-punchers? Just look @ his last three opponents and tell me what they all have in common...

Sure, Ali had weaknesses, but nobody ever came close to outboxing Ali when he was in his prime. Same can't be said of Pacquiao. Plus, Ali wasn't one-dimensional like Pacquiao is. Pacquiao isn't in the elite class.

The top level of what? Pacquiao isn't even the best fighter in his division and there is a sizeable gulf between he and the top guy.

Pacquiao isn't in the elite class...
