Would Mayweather be considered "past-prime" if Pac beats him?

Would he be considered "old" if he were to lose from Manny, considering he will be 35 by the time the two fight (assuming the fight takes place next year)? I'm willing to bet the upcoming excuses if/when Pacquiao beats Mayweather, saying that he was much slower, his legs were gone, or he was inactive from boxing.

I know that Mayweather isn't the same incredibly speedy and more entertaining fighter as he was back in 130lbs but I do think that a win over the current Mayweather should still be considered an incredible win regardless.

1998 when he beat Sasakul. It's been a slow roll downhill since then. Sad, really :-(

Fighters nowadays are still in their prime when they are in their 30's. Sergio Martinez is 36 and at his peak, IMO. I think they're both in their primes still.

 

:nod Torrecampo really ruined him. He's been increasingly slower in each new weight class, as well. The only thing that's improved is the thickness of his facial hair. :conf

It depends on how both men look in the fight when/if it finally happens.

It's also partially dependent on how Pac looks against Marquez. If Pac is unable to destroy him and send him into oblivion and struggles to a win even at 144, my guess is Mayweather thinks "Well, Pac's finished" and then he suddenly goes for the fight.

Regardless, both men aren't quite at their best anymore. Pac's peak was 2009/2010. Mayweather's peak was probably cut short by all the layoffs he's taken.

It's really a question of who expires more dramatically with time.

Unfortunately, given his style, I think the guy to decline more noticeably first is Pac. Although I hope I'm wrong and I hope Pac beats Mayweather because I'm no fan of Floyd's.

I don't see how you guys can't see this. If a guy starts boxing at 30, when do you think he'll hit his peak? If you been training since you were a kid, then you'll probably hit your prime around 25 or something

 

both pac and floyd are just slightly past prime, so they'd cancel each other out.
