Cant say it any better. I think Floyd AND Pac are both saving their fight to cash out on. B/c after that mega fight that is like THE END moment in boxing for at least 4-5 years.

Floyd is the best fighter of the last 20 years b/c if he was anyone else he would of faded and got beat by a young guy like Ortiz. Yet he still looked as dominant and strong as ever. His defense is still the best in the sport.

His comp has been so-so at the higher weights being he is missing Cotto on his resume. I know dealing with Top Rank is not possible so I give him a ***** pass on that b/c I realize these promoters call shots and keep fights inhouse as much as possible. Floyd just never had a peer that was on his level in his division except for Kosta who lost to Hatton. The fact he generally fights nothing but reigning champs(except Marquez) gives him a bonus for not having the big names past their best like Pac.

1 - Ok physical talent (I actually think his physical gifts are somewhat overrated, hes not some physical freak like judah, gamboa, ect,) Skills on the other hand? Great. Not sure if he is a top 5 fighter from 90's and 00's, what are we going off of, legacy? ability? head to head? p4p?

    2 - 6 out of 10.
Not fighting Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, and Pac hurt him here and always will, imo. But many of the names on his resume are legit foes.

3 - I think neither really wants to fight the other for whatever reasons.

    1. Top notch and one of the 5 best without a doubt, of last 20 years.

    2. Underrated, very solid resume. The sheer number of "championship" rounds and title fights is impressive within itself. Cotto is a fight that would have been good to have and Pac fight would be huge for either man, but doesn't change the fact it's a very good resume.

    3. He thinks Manny is juicing and I don't believe he's avoiding him, Manny will test or they wont fight, that's the bottom line right or wrong.

The prevailing perception is that Mayweather, Jr is the one who is avoiding and delaying the fight, and his actions and statements since their first negotiation have shown a man not willing to fight Pacquaio anytime soon.

Worst case scenario for Pac is, Floyd schools him and via some miracle KO's Pac.

Pac goes home and is a rock star in his homeland and finishes out his 30's and 40's as a national hero and politician.

Worst case scenario for Floyd on the other hand, a KO loss of his 0 and whatever delusional claims he has about being "the face of boxing" or the "cash cow" or whatever he's saying at the moment. Worse still, Floyd has to eat all that humble pie, which we all know Floyd doesn't want to do.

Considering both of those worst case scenarios, Floyd has a lot more to lose than Pac.

Actually, Pac has nothing to lose by fighting or losing to Floyd.

    1. What is your assessment of Mayweather, Jr talent and skills? Is he one of the top 5 fighters of the last two decades (90's and 00's)?
As far and his talent and skill is concerned I'd rank him in the top 5 best to ever do it, let alone just the last couple of decades.

    2. How would you rate his level of competition?
I feel his resume is very good. Yes there are fights I wanted to see that didn't happen but every fighter has that problem. Only fighter I would be upset that he never fought would be Pacquiao. But I would save my overall assessment on his career until after he has completely retired.

    3. What are your thoughts on the idea that he does not want to fight Pacquaio? The random drug test? The vacation?
I believe he does wanna fight Pac and I believe Arum is more to blame than either fighter for why this fight hasn't happened yet. I mean if the blood test aren't a problem now then why has it been a problem for the last 2 years. But regardless credit goes to Manny for stepping up. But I still say it's bull**** until the negotiation starts and when he stands at his word. I remember it was said that the testing wasn't an issue last time only for it to come out that they still didn't agree. The vacations are annoying because it's a shame that we don't get to see more of Floyd, but then again it's his life. He's been boxing since he was young. I realize that he is in the twilight of his career and obviously isn't as motivated as he was when he was younger. So rather then ***** and complain, I choose to enjoy while it last.

    1. The best of this era and should be in the top twenty of all time
    2. Despite how the media tries to down play him. Floyd has had some good competition, he just makes them look bad when he faces them.
    3. It's Pac who really does not want this fight. If he did he would of took it when he had the chance to.

One of the most talented ever.

Third best of the past 20 years.

He has better defence than RJJ but trails in offence. Overall, Roy.

He has better offence than Sweetpea, but trails in defence. Overall, Pea.

Very good, (top five) but he has avoided, Marg, Cotto and Pac.

When Pac defeated Hatton by KO, he began to have pause.

When Pac destroyed Cotto, he got serious colonic quivers.

He sees Pac's flaws and knows he has the goods to beat him. But Pac's performances over Hatton and Cotto have him rattled. He knows he could also beat both those guys (has beaten one) but not in the same fashion.

There's something about the Filiipino that has gotten into his head. Drug tests ? A complete red herring. (He has stated that he could beat Pac, even on PEDs, so what's the issue). Even if he knew with certainty that Pac was juicing (and ther's no evidence for that whatsoever), he should still be confident of victory.

But he clearly isn't. He is reluctant to face someone that he's not certain to beat.

So the answer to 3 is clear.

    Floyd fears Pac.
    :deal

    Glad to elucidate matters.

    1. No, he isn't. I can't rank a ducker and cherry-picker top-5 last twenty years.

    2. He struggled with old DLH and blown up Hatton. Shall I repeat that? (see Pacquiao vs DLH and Hatton for contrast)

    3. He wants nothing to do with Pacquiao because Pacquiao's right hook would knock him on his ass and he knows it.

There have been guys more physically talented than him, even in just the last 20 years. Roy Jones definitely had more physical talent and gifts, Judah was even faster and are a few others at least in the same class as far as athleticism goes. (And you have to figure that his tendency to suffer injuries in the ring like he did with Carlos Hernandez, Castillo, etc makes him a bit physically delicate despite all that talent).

Very few have had the mix of great athleticism/physical abilities and sound technical skills.

Talent wise, yes. As far as accomplishments and beating other great fighters? (Which is a much larger factor to me) No.

Extremely limited. The way he beat mediocre to above average fighters is very impressive, but it doesn't change the fact that they were mediocre to above average.

As I see it, he's beaten two fighters who were in their prime and a legitimate danger to an A class fighter: Corrales and Castillo. You could argue that Zab Judah would give anyone problems at least for 4 rounds, and Hatton on his best night could give an A class fighter with the right style trouble, but only on his best night and against the right stylistic matchup.

Most of the other big names he's beaten were either at the end of their careers, fighting at the wrong weight, both, or were big names that had no realistic chance of beating him or any fighter above a B level. (For example, Gatti).

For all the trash talk, Floyd operates like any other promoter in the end: he goes for best mix of high cash and low risk. He'll take on someone that he completely outmatches for a medium to large payday instead of someone who's a genuine threat for a huge payday.

Who do you think he could have possibly faced in the WW that would have upped his resume? And do you believe he would have won against these guys?
