If he beats FMJ then by all means top 25. If he moves up to 160 after and beats Sergio then damn, top 20 is not even crazy. I'd say top 40 for now. You have to let go of the nostalgia people.
I think Bert Sugar and some other boxing historians placed Pacquiao in the Top 20 ATG after he won his 8th division title belt against Margartio. Hard to disagree with them, as no other fighter has ever accomplished that feat. I think it will be a long, long time before we see anyone else accomplish, or approach, that standard.
Floyd is ranked higher than Pacquiao because he's never lost a one sided decision, and he's never been knocked out!
Yeah, but titles don't mean **** these days. I'm not knocking the Margarito win, because it was a spectacular one against a solid opponent far bigger than him. But the title he grabbed with it? Meh.
This is true, thats why I still consider pac a 7 division champion, unless he beats a solid guy at 154 then it might change.
Undefeated records don't determine the greatness of a fighter. If they did, then the likes of ****ing Calzaghe would be near the top of the list. Based on resume, Manny is easily ahead of Floyd. No doubt about it.
Sure. Dude has accomplished alot, and has a great resume. Arguably the greatest southpaw (toss up between him and Sweet Pea), without a doubt THE greatest asian boxer of all time, first man to win lineal title in 4 weight divisions. I have no problem with him being ranked there. :good
You could put him in there. But when you start counting the names of other greats it starts getting difficult. Then you scrutinize the wins and opponents, catchweights etc. On the flip side how many of us know every details of the other ATG's. it's easy to rank thos in the past once the history is laid out for you. watching a fighter and deciding if they make the list is very different. i think he will be in there but we may need him to finish before we decide.
Fair point, but no one else has even won 7 world titles in 7 weight divisions. If it were that easy, then it would have been done already. Even though the straps are sometimes pretty cheap, the accomplishment is still remarkable, I think.
no the top 25 is stacked by the immortal legends who are almost un passable at this point And to be honest if you put Manny under the micro scope several of his titles are bull but he has 4 lineal titles which is better than most greats so in old timer criteria the 4 lineals makes a statement sadly he bi passed the talent loaded 135 and 140 classes
El oh El @ the posters saying ''he's in my low thirties'' etc. Please post your entire list if this is the case. I don't have one because it's something that takes years and years to compile by fully evaluating every fighter in the last 125 years under specific criteria. Furthermore, information on pre-70s fighters is mainly second hand. We're just reading/listening to reports on those fighters (on the internet usually) and re-hashing what we've been told. One can only accurately judge the era of boxing in which they lived through, imo.
Around 25-40 would be fair right now. Wouldn't call you a nut-hugger for having him 18-25 either. If he beats PBF @147 and Sergio @160, I think there's a case for top 10 right there.
He is juicing and does not deserve to be top100 period. He is a hype machine and match made champion. Basically he is a fraud
