Froch: If I’m looking for a tough fight it wouldn’t be against Lucian Bute because...

Yeah, if only things were as simple as that, huh?

Sure, he’s fought some tough back-to-back fights, but in all brutal honesty, he’s not been very impressive in them. A little fortunate to get the win in his first Super Six fight (as disgraceful as Dirrell was, at times), loses the next one to a one-eyed Kessler, punches a punch-bag for 12 rounds (hailed as a masterful display of boxing ), before being given a safe semi-final against an old, drained Glen Johnson – a man who, was a formidable opponent when Froch was to face him, but is now a cherry pick and a weak challenge for Bute :huh (according to Froch himself and some of his supporters).

He’s a tough cookie, and a gutsy fighter, but that’s about it. Ward will reveal everything if it hasn’t been already. So excuse me for not butt-kissing him like the rest of you are :good.

Froch is a top fighter. Regardless of the outcome of the Super Six final.

It's pretty darn obvious now, Froch is ducking because he'd be expected to win against Bute, but in actuality Bute has the potential to beat him badly. I mean if he is as bad as you claim he is, go fight him, get some good money, KO him easily and expose him at the same time. And also it's not like anyone would say he's picking on easy targets either. Most people want to see the fight

I think he said that about Ward.

    Really?

A war with Pascal, a dramatic 12th round come from behind KO victory over Taylor, a tough competitive match-up with Dirrell, another grueling tough fight against Kessler, a world class exhibition against Abraham, and a very workman like performance against Glen Johnson?

Pretty ****ing impressive if you ask me, and arguably more impressive than what Ward has done even when considering their fate against common opponent Kessler.

I think you're selling "The Cobra" a bit short here.

Guys like him and Ward are both CONSISTENTLY fighting top notch guys, and each fighter should be applauded and neither guy is "hype".

They are legit champs, great fighters, and true warriors.

I don't see how any real boxing fans could deny those traits in both Ward AND Froch.

No, I'm pretty sure it was Bute because I distinctly remember him criticizing Brinkley as an opponent, saying something to the effect that he meant no disrespect for him, but that Bute continued to seek softer competition that was not on an elite level.

Now it may well be true that Froch has used the Desperate Housewives reference to Ward, as well!

But I'm fairly confident he said it of Bute. I can't be arsed to research it, though.

So why did he pronounced "But" seconds after Jenna pronounced it close enogh  ... Yeah later he said "Bute" but still.

The correct pronunciation you can hear it at 0:18 in the clip below :

My point was (and again, I am totally guessing here), I believe that Froch mispronounces the name deliberately.

Again, I could be wrong but that's the impression I've always gotten.

I think you confuse his ignorance with mind games.

I'm sorry Bute doesn't like to trash talk, he should make an exception for Froch and in exchange for Froch missprononcing his name ,he should do the same Pronouncing Froch like ''Floch" witch in Romanian sounds exacly like the word for pubic hair.

Again, all those fights you mentioned, displayed his toughness and grit - something which I acknowledge and respect. But the level of skill which he showed in them, wasn't all that. That's where the overhyping comes in.

It may seem like I'm selling the Cobra short, and my overall assessment of him seems a bit harsh at the moment, but people here have been too quick to forget what he can be reduced to when up against an opponent that doesn't sit their like a punch bag (Abraham) or oblige him in a drunken brawl (Kessler and Pascal). Taylor was boxing his ass off before he gassed, and a not-so confident and green Dirrell had him hitting thin air most of the time.

Like I said, I can't wait for the Ward fight. Because it'll remind us all of what we initially thought about him - just a tough, gutsy fighter who doesn't know when to give up. That's all.

 Fair enough. I admit Ward has been recieving a hell of a lot of hype, but what I see in him, tells me that in the years to come, he will have justified all of it. Winning the Super Six, will be a start.

I don't know why fans dislike certain fighters because they aren't that good. That doesn't even enter the equation as a fan, I don't think. The most important thing is entertainment, and Froch delivers that on two fronts. One, because he's willing to fight anyone and give the fans the absolute best he's got and two, because when he does fight, he leaves it all on the line. How many people can you say that about in boxing? Seriously, there isn't many. Froch is a genuine warrior.

I think he's underrated technically but who cares if he is **** or not? Why would that affect anyones opinion on him as a fighter?

Aside from all that, people have been shitting on Froch since before the Reid fight, constantly predicting losses. If there is anyone who is underhyped, it's Froch....except in his own head
