Jessie Vargas is a perfect tune up fight for khan to face mayweather.

Obviously not regarding styles but the fact Floyd said khan has to fight Vargas before he'll give him a shot. Vargas is a come forward fighter with average power. Pretty much tailor made for khan. If floyd is serious about his demands for khan to fight vargas then i'd say he's not asking much of khan. amir needs a fight at 147lbs to get used to the weight and doesn't want to take too many risks.......khan should snap that offer up!

A fight vs. Vargas is pointless. It was just posturing from Floyd, trying to get his fighter a big fight. No way is vargas ready. His fight pretty much showed that.

I can't imagine Floyd actually wants to see his fighter get destroyed. He was just trying to get Vargas' name out there - he's not even remotely ready for Khan and neither fighter benefits from this.

A fight like this would be the worst possible preparation for Khan, who needs to be tested, not roll over a young prospect.

for me though khan just needs time to get accustomed to the weight. just having that extra training camp with roach at 147 where he can get plenty of sparring in will benifit him. i'll admit the opponent isn't a good one if you want to prepare for floyd but to be honest their isn't that many guys out there who are good enough. the likes of berto, brook, and ortiz are too high of a risk with not enough reward.

besides khan can get the preparation he needs with the sparring. their's plenty of guys in the wildcard gym that are good enough.

true say. after Lamont i think Amir will fight Kell Brook int he UK. He says he is at 149 without training so its natural to move up 2 147.

:huh Neither half of that sentence is true.

You are either confusing Vargas with someone else or making **** up from a position of ignorance (and maybe a peek at Boxrec).

That said, it IS a mismatch in Khan's favor - just not by virtue of any stylistic tailoring.

Vargas is a JrLW. A fight vs. him does nothing to prep Khan for a WW fight that he already hasn't had.

I understand the risk vs. reward thing, but I am not going to sympathize with fighters looking for easier fights to save a later payday. If you can't beat Kell Brooks or Andre Berto, you have no reason to be in the ring w/ Mayweather.

well he's not a slick boxer with head movement and good footwork is he? he doesn't box off the back foot. obviously he's not a marcos maidana but he's there to be hit. his power may be a bit better than average but from what ive seen(which i'll admit is 2 fights) he isn't a big hitter.

its a good style for khan.

well imo opinion khan has the style to beat mayweather. not saying he will but he has the ingredients needed. good jab, reach, height, speed, quick feet. plus he has roach in his corner to guide him.

that being said khan is still susceptible to the ko. a big hitter like berto, or ortiz could pressure khan and find his chin.

against mayweather it will be a chess match. completely different fights!

I don't watch boxing for chess. But my point stands, if Khan can't beat the second teir WW's, he sholdn not go in there with the top teir.
