Olusegun vs. Chebah was awesome. :thumbsup

I only caught a few scattered rounds of Walsh vs. Appleby while at work, but it looked to feature some crackling action with both locking horns and setting to task. j, or whoever, would you say it was overall more entertaining than Olusegun vs. Chebah? Worth continuing to hunt down the entirety on Youtube? (not there yet) :think

how, just how can any****ingone call appleby a quitjob, get a ****ing life,or,if you can,put on some gloves,go toe to toe for 10 rounds, being belted the **** out of while belting the **** outa someone, then call someone a quitjob.
that fight is what boxing is all about,2 men, evenly matched going toe to toe,it went back and forth round after round,i thought walsh was gone in the 7th,no long count either, the ref followed the timekeeper, then walsh came back in the 8th and took applebys game away, shocked him.
great fight,i dident really like walsh before the fight, wanted appleby to win, like the lad a lot(until i thought of what dunky would say if he won on here, its cos i love you dunks)but walsh has won a fan here(his brothers do seem to be the cocks of the family, could prove me wrong),he is limited, will get beat by buckland, but will be a good fight.

ps laz and miguel, get it on togeather, come on laz, grow some balls, don't migeul live down south as well, you could meet up,video it,post the fight on here,be real fun

My understanding has always been that the timekeeper starts the count as soon as a fighter touches the canvas, the referee takes a fighter who scored the knockdown to the neutral corner, asks the timekeeper for the count and resets it to zero from when the fighter got to the neutral corner.

"4. When a Contestant has been knocked down, the Referee shall order the Opponent to the farthest neutral corner of the ring and pick up the count from the Timekeeper or the Official counting for knockdowns"

he did dident he,he picked it up at 6 or 7,walsh got up at 9,thats my take on it, the 4 or 5 times i watched it.
was never in a milion years a long count,i acually wanted him counted out,but he was up,and went out in the next round and impressed me with his comeback
    great fight

Dunno Widdy, I was just making the point that Bunce didn't mention the pick up when discussing the KD. He was saying it should start from when Appleby went to the neutral corner.

I got that from a video talking about the Dempsey-Tunney longcount by a famous ref who's name escapes me, so for years I thought it was done that way. Maybe I misunderstood.

i know gaz,it looked to me the count statrd the moment he hit the canvas, put appleby in a corner and picked it up at 6 or 7,if he put him in a corner and started the count from then it would of been 3 or 4,and walsh up at 6 or 7,i could be wrong,i was a bit pissed:D

You're right that was the new rule at the time, it caught Dempsey out because he liked to stand over fallen opponents and twat them again as soon as their knees left the canvas (you can see it in Dempsey fights before Tunney). Its different now though mate.

So you're trying to tell me that in 80 years the sport has slightly altered the rules? Unbelievable.

Can't believe I've been going by that for years. :patsch

Appleby is a good kid, looked a bit flat last nite. IMO tried to walk down walsh for 1st half of fight, then overpower walsh in 2nd half which he nearly done. Walsh fantastically held on and got his workrate going again after been knocked down.
Not sure if Paul was listening to his corner as he gave no lateral movement just raised his guard imparing his own sight of his opponent allowing walsh to tee off on multiple shots.
Have no doubt he will come back stronger and better for it though both fighters all credit as I would class that as a bit of a war.
