What happens if a 18 year old Tyson goes pro in 1947, And a 23 year old Marciano goes pro in 1985? Who does better overall? Does their records still look similar to 50-6 And 49-0 or would they be v.different? Who trains Tyson? Was Cus D'Amato old And experienced enough to train him in 1947? Does Tyson leave to be trained by his ghetto homies, of teh novice-trainer quality of Bright And Snowell? Who will be his "Buster Douglas" in the 1940s/1950s?? Will Tyson be a lot smaller in the 1940s/1950s?? Will he fight at close to 190lbs like when he was 13 years old? Or more like 201lbs when he was 16 years old??

How about Marciano, is he trained by Futch? I guess Eddie Futch would be mint for Marciano, And make him more like Frazier. With Futch, can Rocky go undefeated in teh 1980s/1990s? How much bigger will Marciano be in more modern times? Will he fight at 210lbs instead of 185lbs? Or will he fight in teh 190lbs cruiserweight division against rivals like Qawi And Holyfield, then maybe move up to heavyweight later?

    Foreman Hoooooooooooooooooooook! :hat

IMO, up until Holyfield, tyson didn't meet anyone who I'd expect to give rocky trouble.

IMO, rocky never met anyone I'd expect to give Tyson trouble.

D 80s crop would have been 2 much for Rocco sizewise , he might have won a fight against an out of shape / unmotivated / under d influence (generic) 80s titlist (maybe even 2 , being kind but still realistic) , but still lose d rest .
Tyson , even 10lbs lighter (and thus possibly slightly quicker) would have feasted well on d 50s-60s crop , surpassed d 49-0 , become a long time reigning all time great , whom might have definitely been remembered as d greatest of all times .

Tyson would be undefeated and completely dominate the era with a little trouble from Walcott and Charles. Marciano would lose to Lewis, and maybe Bowe and others

How would Marciano have done with 6'5, 230lb with faster hands, long jabs and the strength to push him around? Douglas, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tubbs could well have the style to outbox him, Rudduck may just be too big and too powerful. Marciano is effectively stepping up 2-3 weight classes here

Tyson would blow out pretty much anyone in Marciano's era

Marciano did fight effectively against a 6'2 214lb Joe Louis, who had as good a jab as anyone in the 1980s. I think it gave us a glimpse of how Marciano would fight these bigger guys...doing a lot of work in his crouch. Marciano also landed pretty effectively on young top prospect 6'4 Carmine Vingo in a slugfest. I also think you give Marciano creatine, put him on the weights, and he becomes a menacing 200lber.

    This again?

Maricano would still go undefeated and retire after a few hard years of fighting. He would have less title defenses, but instead of wasting his time with Tubbs and Bruno, he would clean out the top guys and maybe cap his career with a hard win over CW Champion Holyfield.

Tyson would make it look easier than Rocky did blowing through Joe Louis, Layne, and Mathews. I think Walcott would be the big "if" here. Walcott's toughness, power, skill, and brains could present some serious problems for Iron Mike. If Mike gets past him, he would defend the title more frequently than Marciano, fighting just about everybody. But as in his own time, Mike is going to lose his head eventually and get shockingly upset before the big Patterson showdown. Would it be Moore? Johnson? Or an unexpected inspired lesser contender like Douglas did in his own time? Valdez? Baker? Holman? or someone like that? :think

Louis doesn't move and give angles like those men, he'd also lost allot of his speed. Louis also outboxed Rocky for a few rounds.

I rate Douglas very highly, I think his Tyson win and his ability that night is very underrated. I rate Tubbs and Thomas pretty high too ability wise. Those 2 I'd slightly favour Rocky, Tokyo Douglas I think beats him.

I think fighting bigger opponents on a regular basis would get to Marciano eventually, but we know he was smart about his own body and retired when noticing signs of slowing down. He could duplicate Tyson's reign although he might not win his matches as spectacularly but as "The Mongoose" said, he could end his career on a fight against Holyfield. The question is whether that would be a win or a loss.

If Tyson were to have a 'Douglas' moment,Joe Walcott would be the man to capitalise.

Both men would be very succesful in each other's timezones.

Do you not rate Peak Tony Tucker? He beat a very good, conditioned Douglas in '87, it was evenly-matched boxing, with Tucker pulling out the late stoppage. In that fight Douglas looked better than he did against Old Berbick, & equally good as he did against Green McCall. Although i accept Buster looked slightly more sharp/quick & on "peak form" against Mike Williams/Mike Tyson. If Rocky was called Mike Marciano, he would be really in trouble!

Tyson cleans house, Marciano struggles with the same schedule.

Like Tyson, he didn't have the style to last all those years at that highest level. I'm guessing of course.
