will we ever see such a devastating power-punching speed demon again dominate the top opposition ever again?

Never get tired of that video. One of a kind, Calzaghe was. Legend. Those 100 punches per second on that punchbag were devestating.

I enjoyed watching Calzaghe, and I guess you could say I was a fan. But I didn't overrate him IMO.

To think, Bailey and crew say he is better than Hagler.

Calzaghe made all other boxers look primative. What a legendary human being.

I don't think anybody ever said that. But in terms of his package of size (he fought at 178 during fight night at SMW, hagler fought at around 160), speed, chin and skill, Calzaghe has h2h advantage.

Nobody would seriously say that Calzaghe is better than Hagler ATGwise. His resume, while impressive, doesn't reach Hagler's. But h2h, he's hard to beat and impresses even the ATGs.

Calzaghe has a size and speed advantage. All the skills and chin go to Hagler and it's not close.

Joe did have alot of power early on in his career when his hands were decent. Eubank said he seemed to have bricks in his gloves. Later on he went to the slapping b/c his fragile hands could take it.

No, Calzaghe had skills. To the point that SRL was very impressed with him. Even looking at it, the man has skills. Being technically sound isn't the acme of skills. If that was the case, I'd call Calzaghe the more technically sound fighter than Hagler.

But he's not. He's got sufficient skills to make the fight go in his favor, especially in a decision win. He's very good at feints, dodging, cheating, jabbing, infighting, straight-shooting, upper body movement, footwork even if off-balance at times.

And it doesn't matter if Hagler has a better chin. All that matters is that Calzaghe has a very strong chin and has fought in the higher weight classes. Chins don't punch each other.
