I think Duran had some trouble with speedy fighters too. Toss up match for me.

Nobody beats Duran at lw with the possible exception of B.Leonard and Joe Gans. Arguello would put up a hell of a fight but Duran would just have too many guns for him. Duran by 14 rd. k.o.

Arguello didn't have the right hand or was as fast as Thomas Hearns, but he still had a decent one and Duran rarely fought a right handed puncher. I think Arguello would find a home for the right.

a lot of people are lookin to go against Duran whenever possible it seems, because of all the talk about him getting spoke about as having so many fans etc. Let's just be objective and forget about other influences. I pick Duran and I think his defensive movements would be a major asset in this one, he's not going to be easy to time by Alexis' great power shots.

no it is not that. I heard recently that he really didnt beat many guys who were legit great fighters and if you see his record that is kind of true. He beat second raters but really his records against real greats is loss after loss in spite of the fact he fought them when he moved up a little.

Wasn't this fight close to actually happening until Arquello lost to Vilomar Fernandez in that non-title fight in NYC?

Do you not think Ken Buchanan was a great lightweight? Have you watched a lot of his performances? Do you think that Roberto Duran lost to many of the greats you speak of whilst he was at his best?

Who do you think wins this fight then? Are you familiar with the fighting styles of Alexis Arguello and Roberto Duran? If so then on the basis of that then what would your case be for Arguello winning? Or do you think Duran wins and you're just making the same old post I've seen a million times by posters with the name Floyd in their posting name, just for the hell of it?

my gut feeling tells me Duran always beat guys who were below his fighting level and Arguello was above it with a big right hand. I think people would be very surprised to see Duran stopped in about 5 or 6 by Arguello. Having Floyd in my name is nothing bad. Floyd is a great fighter who uses his skills and has beaten top fighter not just guys he could beat.

Duran by late stoppage. The fight would be full of fireworks, but I think Duran was stronger and punched a bit harder. Arguello would be nailing Duran with his usual accurate, hard, sharp punches, but Duran would take them well and come back with his own hard shots.

Basically, I feel Duran was more durable and would work his way in and do more damage and eventually grind Alexis down.

It'd be a very fun fight to watch.
