He was hurt before by CLEAN shots....that **** was caught. He shouldn't have went down from that ****...the other shots that were on Target and were clean I would have no questions about but knowing the kid has a beard and can recoup and stay calm has me even more confused about what I saw.
I agree with you, KunuckUp. Being a fan since age 11 and having formerly trained in the gym before I think I have a better understanding on the mentality of a fighter in the ring. The most telling thing that happened was the few moments right before the KO. Barker opened up with a nice little combination and then Martinez fightered one right back at him to which Barker said, "**** it," and took the opportunity to go down on a light, partially blocked punch.
Then what was it? Come out with an affirmative theory of the event. What sort of hare-brained fantasy do you have in mind?
No....never but I was never pro.. its different with head gear... I see your point but I'm still scratching my head.
I think Barker quit....seemed like he just decided to pack up shot at the worse time as that punch he chose to use as his "out" couldn't have KO'd someone who proved to have a solid beard like Barker.
Rather than survive the distance in a close fight with PfP #3, thereby enhancing his status and setting up better paydays in the future? He got knocked out, obviously.
I think he packed it in as well, he was getting beat up more and more. It's better to lose by KO than to quit in this business.
Thank you! That's all I'm saying....it looked like Barker up and quit.. Sergio was winning and maybe Barker broke down mentally.. knowing he was on the verge of his first career loss was too much.. I don't know...but I don't buy he was hurt!
I agree Barkers logic is flawed if he did quit but are you going to tell me you haven't seen boxers make some very idiotic decisions in fights that leave you wondering "WTF?". This is one of those moments for me.
Right..... He quit in my mind. Props to sergio but while Barker is solid as a pro he's got a weak "ticker" in my opinion. Sergio won and props for another title defense. It wasn't his best performance but fairly one sided.
