If that was doing "really well" I'd hate to see what doing really badly is.

He got battered for most of the rounds. His early successes were never consistent and he basically fought as if he could turn Martinez's lights out with a few shots here and there. A bit dumb when you lack power.

I give him credit - he did have the right tactics, but not the mentality, power or style to carry it off ultimately.

Sergio did a good job with a cagey, negative fighter, broke him down and got him out of there.

By really well I meant I thought he would get blasted out in a few rds ala Williams or be dropped 4 or 5 times like Dzinziruk.

Fair point! Compared to that he did brilliantly.

He was brave in there, but he just didn't have the mental tools to get the job done.

Barkers mentality was good tonight, he fought a thinking mans fight and did some damage too. He nullified Sergio technically for large parts of the fight but without doing enough to win rounds. Martinez was just physically stronger in the end. It wasn't elite level technique which wore Darren down it was the pace of the fight and elite level strength.

Totally disagree, mentally he was spot on or he would have been sparked like Williams or Dzinziruk way earlier.

He just got physically worn down in there.

He went in there with the mentality of "I'm going to keep a tight guard, and not let my hands go too much, because if I don't I'm going to get punished." He was effectively the anti-Williams in there.

One minute Johnny Nelson says "Martinez is 36 years old and is getting faster and more powerful. How does he do it?" and then after Woodhall talks bollocks he says "Is he on the level of Paquiao/mayweather? No way!". Thought that was odd. I didn't like how they shat on Martinez, they looked bitter.

Are we supposed to believe Martinez is now **** because he didn't look sparkling against a negative, although well-prepared fighter?
