I was following the round by round thread and my card was pretty much in line with yours, save for a couple rounds here and there. Martinez was outworking him in most of the rounds, but I didn't see anything effective landing. Meanwhile, Barker was keeping his distance, blocking the single shots and combos from Sergio, popping him with jabs in return, and landing 4-5 clean and flush straight right hands per round. It was definitely a close fight. Lampley, Lederman, and Steward turned into three cheerleaders tonight. So much so that I hit the mute button for the first time in forever.

This. The rounds Martinez won were mostly on work-rate and the ones Barker won were on clean, effective punching

I had it 3-2 Barker after the first 5 rds then Martinez won every rd after that so 7-3.

Barker was doing a great job using his jab to set up the right hand but stopped doing so and just focused on defense.

Martinez started to not only outwork him but also landed the harder punches when they were able to slip through and stunned Barker 2-3 times. Barker landed some good shots but Martinez combination of work rate and good shots beat out Barkers.

I had it 6-4 for Martinez.

Maravilla was having trouble with the tight defense of Barker. I thought that busted nose was going to make Martinez more trouble breathing, causing him to slow down but the guy is in top shape. Those body shots really paid off for him.

I had it 6-4 for Martinez. I had a choppy feed but I think it's more or less a fair score card. I could see 7-3 but I couldn't see 5-5.

8-2 Martinez. Barker wasn't doing enough to win the rounds, just keep them competitive.

One could argue the exact opposite scorecard, and say that Martinez wasn't accurate enough to win the rounds, just throwing enough to keep them competitive and hold Barker off.

    The fight was pretty even.
Barker 1 time seemed in control, esp when Martinez face became a bloody mess.
