Darrens a mini Clottey but without the chin... he went down n stayed down... i'm happy 4 sergio... when he wants 2 he adds the pressure. Darren was pushing Sergio down quite alot and also made him trip. What proffesionalism is this? Darren just couldn't get the job done he didnt come back with anything... he was like squirtle turtle from pokemon hiding in his defensive shell whilst Sergio was accumulating the jabs and combinations. I hope Sergio gets a big fight... plus he's nice aswell... he helped tht girl who was getting bullied at skwl.

This being said Darrens performance was good considering he was a underdog in the fight... he held his own in the first half of the fight... maybe he needs more conditioning to last the full 12 rounds against his upcoming opponents?

Can't say I agree, Prince. I'll copy and paste what I wrote in another thread:

I thought Barker, for the level he is, done brilliantly. He done the right thing by not charging in recklessly - which would have seen him get knocked out sooner. He maintained distance well, and made Sergio pay for his low-hands style. His only crime, unfortunately, was that from round 6, he became too inactive, and allowed Sergio to overwhelm him with punches and grow in confidence.

And yes, this fight has proved that Sergio has been overrated just a tad bit over the past year or so. The only reason why he's such a threat to the Mayweathers and Pacquiaos, is because of his size, and that's it. When it comes to skill and talent, he's nowhere near their level.

(PS - before you jump on my back, I'm a Martinez fan).

Sergio is overrated off of beating Paul williams at 160 when at his best P-Will is a 154/147 fighter.

Sergio then beat a drunk faded Kelly Pavlik who was coming around in the fight in his awful state until the cuts.

Martinez has beaten some names at the right time, but he is a joke at MW.

You know i'm not those types of people who try 2 retaliate (is that how you spell the word lol). Don't get me wrong Darren put on a good performance considering he was the underdog... and yh i agree with u he had to give something in return during the second half of the fight. But the british commentator was saying that Darren may not have the aptitude to last full 12 rounds and thats what happnd. As far as Manny goes he's fought bigger opponents in the past but he's most comfortable at 147; and i doubt Sergio will come down lol. He says 150. Who knows...

Got to agree. I thought Barker did brilliantly! Soft knockout though which was dissapointning. Martinez was not goood tonight but showed the heart to push on and ko his apponent.

I thought they did a good job of getting rid of that early nosebleed.

He poses other problems than size. He is an awkward southpaw with very very serious power that comes with very good speed from odd angles. He has good chin and ring IQ and that's why he is top 5 pound for pound on any list

P.S. a true pro always finds a way on a good day he finds a spectacular way on a bad day he'll suffer but he'll still get the work done

I think Sergio is a great fighter and deserving of his p4p ranking given his accomplishments, but I also think he's very beatable by a certain group of MW's. I would be suprised if Lou risks him against another MW who doesn't bring money to the table. The risk/reward looks much better at 154, where Lou might be able to land some fights with winner/loser of Kirkland/Angulo, Cotto/Margarito, and maybe Alvarez. So unless Chavez beats Manfredo and is unable to squeeze out of his obligation to Martinez, I think Sergio's next fight will be at 154. The Lee/Macklin fights are too much risk right now. Lou could have those guys build a little more and then face Sergio after he's beaten some bigger names at 154.

you can completely downplay any fighters resume like this. Who's your favorite fighter I'll do it for you. If it's Pac Oscar and Cotto were drained, Margo was nothing without the plaster, Barrera and Morales were shot from fighting each other. If it's Floyd Mosley was too old, Marquez too small, Corales was drained, Castillo beat him.... If it's Ali Liston took a dive, Foreman was in horrible mental state, Frazier was a midget and his best win was against Ali lol. I can go on all night.

Martinez is cool, and I'm not hating, but he is a bit overrated. One day he'll get exposed for his sloppy defense, low hand position and bad fundamentals. It happens to all reflex fighters, just hasn't happened yet.

You can complain all you want to, I'm just stating fact. Paul Williams isn't a MW and that is where Sergio KO'd him. Pavlik was drunk and the cuts affected him greatly in the fight, afterwards he checked himself into rehab. He fought a nobody from 154 and KO'd him at 160, now we had him getting outboxed at 160 and pulling out a strange KO.

Sergio isn't **** at 160, that he is mentionedi n the P4P list is a disgrace to the list and to everyone on it.
