Damn, you really have it in for Cotto. Just because a few boricuas go overboard and claim PBF used to duck him? PBF himself recognizes what a hard-working and respectably skillful overachiever Cotto is and has said as much on public record. I bet if asked directly, he would tip Cotto over Martinez too.
LOL he looked like a bloody chihuahua than coudnt break barkers defense till the 8th rnd... winky would have a field day with sergio
Sergio KO's Cotto or Cotto quits like everyone time it gets tough. Cotto lost to clottey, quit against Margo and Quit against pac ( Got on his bike when **** got tough.)
Oh yeah, the Bowe era. Hahhahahhahahahahhahahahhahahah!!!!! Ah, they were good days. Radar and Widdow arguing over Lewis - Klitschko. Me owning Shamrock because he was a ****. 2smart4u (who is now 'the boss' by the way') making a **** of himself. Please can I change my username back to Bowe and travel back 6 years??? Cotto > Sergio.
I don't think Cotto would beat Martinez at 154. Cotto is not a pressure fighter at that weight. He's much more of an ordinary boxer-puncher at that weight, and I'm a huge Cotto fan.
He only has a few wins at the weight so far and not one of them is anything to write the HOF about (although his 140 and 147 campaigns, they're a different story) - BUT, just looking at his performances relative to the opposition he's faced and contrasting with the rest of the division...please...PLEASE tell me who the **** is better h2h @ 154? It's a **** division right now, in all honesty. He's the only close to elite fighter in it (with Lara and Molina just a step behind him). You've got Lara and Molina tied at #2 in pure ability (until they settle their score) and then everyone else is ****. One dimensional Angulo? The shell of Williams (who was never quite the avoided monster he was advertised as anyway)? Freaking Canelo? (I like Canelo, btw - but nowhere near elite yet in 2011). Trout? ****ing K-9, worst paper champ of the decade? ESPN-level fighter Wolak? Vanes "gift over shot Ouma" Martirosyan? WHO THE **** IS BETTER?????
Cotto and Margarito come into the ring at 160+ themselves, they aren't any smaller, Martinez would come down to 154 for the fight
It's funny because there is a fellow at Middleweight named Dmitry Pirog that has been calling him out for over a year now. Isn't Dibella's reasoning not to fight Pirog is because he isn't a name? Funny, Martinez is not a name either despite his oh so great "P4P" ranking. Don't get me wrong, Martinez is the legitimate Middleweight champion of the world, but he needs to fight Pirog, he needs to fight more often than the average two year showings on HBO, and he needs to fight in his country of Argentina. I think he would produce a proper fan base that way and he would in turn attract the likes of Miguel Cotto and so forth. As of now, he brings in no revenue based on his ticket sales.
I didn't say he was great, though. That ship sailed, he isn't and never will be great. What I said in the post you originally responded to was that he came back from those devastating losses and reemerged as a very good fighter. :good Objectively speaking, that's just a fact. He's got a world title and two solid wins over B-level guys in Foreman and semi-shot (but motivated) Mayorga to show for that.
