I wanted to jump into the TV and tell them all to shut the **** up. Was anyone else surprised to hear how they basically all **** on Sergio Martinez last night? It actully went beyond that, it was as if none of them even rate him as a top fighter. Im talking about the studio guys particularly Nelson and woodhall. They mocked his rating as a P4P man by saying things like 'no way is he one of the P4P best' and 'hes extremly beatable' 'he is nowhere near pac and mayweathers level' 'a few fighters will fancy their chances seeing this' 'he is completely overated'. They seemed to talk down his wins over Pavlik and Williams as if they were just average wins. Fair enough it was quite a shitty performance by Martinez who clearly didnt take this seriously but jesus christ shouldnt these SKY pundits know a bit better? Sometimes a fighter has an off day and Barker did well. But these ****wits went on like they just dont rate him at all.
They weren't giving him any credit at all. I heard the HBO were were really nasty towards Barker (I've not seen HBO's showing of the fight) but Sky were...really really bad.
HBO wasn't that bad, Steward even said that Barker was fighting the perfect fight (for what he could produce at least). Merchant was just offsetting Steward's praise by stating the opposite view.
I think Sergio's performance turned out to be quite ingenious. It showed how to beat some idiot who has decided to just hold his hands in front of his face all fight. Just pop that f*cker in the ear hole with a couple of good shots. That'll take care of that shite.
None of them had a good word to say about him. They were so utterly full of **** last night i actually wondered if they had ever seen Martinez fight before. We all know Nelson is a twat but even Woodhall and Oliver got on my tits. Baiscally the spoke as if Martinez is an average fighter who doesnt deserve the praise hes been getting. None of them mentioned the fact that Barker half pulled a Clottey vs Pac. I was staggered by them.
He isn't top 5 P4P, never has been...his only win over a true middleweight prior to last night was against a drunk. He's had a couple of decent wins but that doesn't make you anywhere close to P4P material....his record prior to 2009 is ****ing dire
He is just not that good, he gets hype because Williams was so overrated. Their first fight is one of the most overrated fights in history also.
Man, get the **** out of here. Who cares about who is a "true" middleweight? Pavlik and Williams were the best 2 fighters fighting at 160 and Martinez beat them both. That's all that matters. As for the announcers, in my experience British commentators are the most **** in the sport, totally embarrassing homerism combined with zero insight.
