Just after an idea of PPV buy figures in Australia

Martinez is hardly a household name for the casual sports fan. Even most boxing fans have never heard of Barker

what would the PPV figures be for this fight in Oz ?

I would say arounnd 4000 tops

a Floyd or Pac fight in Oz gets what 50 000 ?

I didnt order it either...why would someone order it when you get the 1 international commentator with no intros or anything.
The production is like boxing in the 1960's.
Main Event couldnt give a rats ass.

Just get the HBO version later or watch it online.

Fire up caps lock. Not all of us can afford to have foxtel then pay the $50 every time theres a fight on.

    Tell me about it.
Unless we are all just rolling in money how we can afford foxtel & then pay $40-$50 every 3 weeks for a boxing card on Main Event.
Then on top of that the coverage for that price is absolutely dreadful & not even the HBO broadcast, but the shitty international feed.

I have said it for ages...FOX Sports should show the majority of the mid range to smaller HBO & Showtime cards whether that be live or a slight tape delay, with only the big 6-8 cards a year being live on Main Event PPV.

I would hardly call Barker-Martinez a big international match besides the NRL Grand finals were on very bad timing.

If people on a boxing forum aren't buying the PPV, what hope is there for casual sports fan buys ?

i guess main event get certain events as a package so it doesn't cost them any extra. They make money off the Pac and Floyd fights

    I firmly agree m8.

You blokes musn't hav 2 cents to rub together. I buy at least one boxing PPV per month and of top of dat I have year round footy memberships too.

But I don't grab the MMA shows, I watch dem online or @ a pub

It wasn't a Pay Per View worthy fight. I just downloaded it and watched it tonight. We're probably the only country in the world where you have to shell out for it. It's $50 on Austar too. No thanks.

Going by this thread I now don't know who to blame for why boxings dead in this country. One ppv every 5 weeks is too much for the 'fans' to invest in the sport. It's pathetic.
