JMM held the rope in hopes of not going down because he thought the KD rule was in effect.

 

And Pacman thought the KD rule was not in effect that's why he's still punching.

It was illegal, I believe the ref warned Pac about it.

Pac admitted that he did not think that JMM's hand was on the floor and was clearly focused on the hand that was holding on to the ropes.
Anybody's reaction is to punch again when your opponent is not yet down.
JMM himself admitted that he was holding on to avoid a KD.

Even Tyson was put in a squatting position before after taking a solid punch, but did not touch the floor so it was not counted as a KD.

So bottomline, illegal? Yes.
Sucker punch? Debatable since both were expecting (one to punch for a KD, the other to avoid a KD)
Unsportmanlike? No.
Hurt the sport in anyway like Mayweather did? Quite the opposite.

 

The stupid ref should have warned Pacman on that punch and acknowledge a KD.

But since the ref is stupid... He just warned Pacman.

The reason why Pacman punched Marquez was because he held the rope on the way down. The stupid ref should have seen that, then warned Pacman and counted 8 on Marquez.

JMM held on the ropes because he thought the THREE KD rule was in effect.

Pac's in the heat of the moment, he sees JMM holding himself up, he hits him to make sure he's down. He has no idea if JMMs other glove is touching the canvas. On top of that, we've seen numerous refs not call KDs when being held up by the ropes.

 

Juan Manuel Marquez was clinging to that rope because he thought if he went down, the fight was over.

Just look at his reaction when he hears Cortez counting. He has a surprised look on his face.

Pac hit JMM while Juan was holding onto the ropes, pac did nothing wrong!!

 

But the funny thing is, what Floyd did was technically legal. And what Pac did was technically illegal.

 

Pac didnt do anything illegal, once JMM held onto the ropes he was saying "hey, im not down yet"


Floyds KO was legal, it was just a ***** move!

 

He wasn't saying anything, all he was DOING was trying to hold himself up.

Since in reality, if the ropes are holding you up, you are "down". This is a rule in boxing in case you obviously forgot.
