but we are not only talking about just plain speed here...you got to put there the intangibles like style or movement or whatever, plus pbf has the size advantage with speed....potshooters like pbf frustrates pac....you cant let go 5-6 punch combo to someone backing away and potshooting...
If Floyd backs away after throwing a punch then he's going down. Pac has ridiculous speed going forward. He has to, and mark my words will ONLY do two things to disrupt Pac's ryhtmn: 1. Move to the side (lateral movement) 2. Clinch
we all know pbf can go sideways and pbf backing away wont spell doom automatically, unless pbf misses...what im saying is, pbf connects and backs away....just like cotto did when he rode that bike....only difference is pbf is bigger and faster than cotto...
I guess another look at it is, can Manny deal with Floyd's offense? We all know that Floyd's opponents punch output and punches landed all go down majorly compared to their other fights. Manny doesn't have a jab to offset Floyd nor does he have the Ring IQ. Not to mention that Roach has trained two fighter against Floyd and has come out on the losing end.
You are right. It won't spell doom automatically bc Floyd has the foot speed to match Manny and he has the reach. Manny will have to cover ground on a guy who has great foot speed and better foot work than him. I really don't think the fight will live up to the hype. It will be exciting early but around the 4th round it will just look like a sparring session and people hoping for Manny to come with a game changing punch.
Why are *****s still having the peter Pan syndrome when they are looking at Gayweather. They see Gayweather fighting Ortiz and what they see id the Gayweather who fought Gatti, or Corrales. It is like Gayweather never became old and slower. Only a die hard fan with blinders can see that Gayweather is a lot slower than that, and moves a less than that, as well as punches a less than that. If he bicycle against Baldomir, why would he trade against Mosley? It is just not logical. He could trade with Baldomir and he would have been throwing 5 punches and Baldomir is still thinking of throwing. Yet he opt to beaucycle? Against a known heavier puncher Mosley, it almost cost him the fight. Luckily Mosley is a jittery, asthmatic fighter who gassed out after 6 minutes. Gayweather fights out of a pocket nowadays and does not move hus feet as actively.
You are trying to ruin a great thread with all the Gayweather childish ****. Dude Mosley has always had problems with boxers. Floyd used the same blue print that Winky Wright used against Mosley. That's why he fought Mosley the way he did. Hell he used his feet more against a smaller Marquez than he did against Mosley and Marquez doesn't punch harder than Mosley. Its just about the game plan. Yes he has slowed down since he was 130 or 140 but he still has fast feet and hand speed.
pacman's ring IQ is underrated...remember him playing a chessmatch with the likes of barrera and jmm??? but i have to agree..pbf's offense coupled with size and reach advantage will be a handfull for pac to cope considering the speed pbf will be bringing it....
Being totally unbiased even though I am a floyd fan I think its more probable that Floyd can handle pacs speed rather than the other way round purely because his defense is so much better than pacs. I know its a while ago now but I use the de la hoya fight as a gauge as how Floyd deals with fast punches in bunches as IMO that's the most similar punch style that Floyds faced (even though pacs angles are different) . And he did ok even at a weight he was not comfortable at vs a much bigger opponent.
Of course both of you understand that the "doom" scenario you are referring too is an exaggeration in my part. Point is, and I can guarantee you both this, if PBF decides to back away instead of clinching or doing lateral movements, then he is going to get tagged. And no, I don't think Manny going forward and Floyd going backward is even a match strictly on a speed basis. Can you at least look at how fast he was lunging towards a guy running for the hills in Mosley and how Floyd looked going back during his last 3 outings and see for yourselves that Manny is definitely much much faster going forward than Floyd going backwards? It's ridiculously easy to spot I'm surprised how the both of you can come up with claims such as Floyd's speed matching Pac when he is going backward and Pac forward.:huh
You are right. No fighter should back straight up against an opponent. That is a no no but you rarely see Floyd doing that. Floyd is the master at range in boxing right now and he will be moving side to side. The problem with Manny is that he has no jab to relax Floyd before lunging forward and he might get his ass caught with something while lunging which will spell doom for him. I see your point though.
Maybe not Floyd's hand speed in general, but how quick on the trigger he is moves like this will frustrate Pac This content is protected
