He needed to be punching in close. He wasn't confident enough to let his hands go when he walked in. He did better than we expected, but by the fifth round sergio was getting through to the body and catching Barker when he did open up.

Sergio may not have looked great but that's mostly because barker didn't really want to exchange. When he did, because he needed to keep his man off, he got hurt.

All three judges had Rees 2-1 up at the time of the stoppage.

Had the fourth been completed he'd have won anyway.

Derry definitely won the first two and was on his way to winning the fourth imo

I don't think he won the second.

I thought Rees had him sussed, and would have stopped him around 8.

Derry has no chin, you can clearly hear that being shouted if you watch the fight back.

I agree that Rees was warming to the contest there was plenty of energy from Rees but I think he had problems with Derry not only tall and rangy which at his height he is used to be being able to effectively utilise that boxing on the backfoot which spooked Rees a bit.

Its all speculation and I dont think Derry wanted any part of Gavins bodyshots. Hope there is a rematch though.

Yeah, it took a round or so to get used to the jab. I thought it was a strange choice picking Derry as a voluntary given his style.

A rematch would be good, but my ideal would be for Gavin to make 130 (safely and without taking anything away) and Derry to fight for the vacant title. Maybe the winner of Crolla/Limond.

I think Gavin is really talented, one of the most under-rated fighters in the country, it's a shame he's wasted the most part of his career fighting above his best weight.

Now he's got a nutritionist on board he reckons he could make 130.

Better late than never I suppose.

If he could make 130 that would be pretty impressive but looking at the size of him not out of he question at all if Eddie backs him then there is no reason why he couldnt get a shot. What is going on with Fegatelli the Euro champion? I would expect Rees to handle him easily would be a good first fight at 130 then look onwards to world level. Im not sure who he might be able to get a shot at but its a divison that is clearly wide open.

Rees is shorter than alot of featherweights, but he is built big, it's not out of the question for him to get down to 130 I don't think.

If Rees could safely get down without losing anything I think he could be a real force at SFW.

Anyone not yet convinced by Roman Gonzalez needs to have a stern word with themselves

Still, shame he didn't duke it out with Segura at Light Fly. Who next for Gonzalez, feast on Calderon?!

Hopefully Joyi will do the right thing and take on Gonzalez :yep

He had a nutritionist on board for 4 weeks only and came in at 133.

    He reckons 130 is doable.

Yup, get him in with the Euro champ at 130 and take it from there.

U.S.S just isn't very good, regardless of the result. Dropped....again.

    Dustin Dirks' K.O was brutal.

Campillo was robbed from what I saw (not the whole fight admittedly) and I still reckon he's all wrong for Clev'.
