Only 3 people have ever knocked Calloway out. Rahman, Chagaev and Briggs. And if Briggs did not get him early, Briggs probably loses that fight. Shannon is that terrible at winning rounds. His punch out put is 1 of the worst there is in the division.

The key with the KO's is to let them come. Chauncy won his previous 5 in a row by stoppage. But he will never be a guy who should be looking for the KO. Yes, he will jump guys when he hurts them and attempt to finish, but besides that, he needs to just do his thing.

Calloway was pretty much shut out. He got only 1 round on the cards out of 12. So Welliver was in complete control most of the way.

I haven't seen the fight yet but I will get back to you when I do. It may be a case of Chauncy giving Rob too much respect early and easing into the fight. If he was boxing and staying away early to try and tire Rob down a bit, he may have gave him to much slacked rope to start. He is a guy who can do that too. He can win rounds boxing off the back foot just as easily as coming forward hard and mauling his opponent.

If he hung back, we will have that remedied by the time a Klitschko is on the other side of the ring. None of that will work with them. Welliver's bread and butter is coming forward and forcing his opponent to throw more punches and expend more energy than he would like early. But I can't blame a guy if he is easily taking rounds without taking shots too. Welliver has a hell of a chin and 1 of the best in boxing, but he doesn't have to use it all the time. He will against a Klitschko though, his ability to win rounds on the outside will evaporate against 1 of them.

So we will see. We need to see his last couple Chinese fights and we need to see him get some TV exposure in the USA and Europe. 2012 is The Year Of Welliver! :bbb

I didn't get the weigh in stats yet. The phone call was on his managers phone and just about 2 minutes tops. I didn't even get a chance to ask him any questions besides...did he knock you down, wobble ya or stun you at all....of course, the answer was NO!

I'm assuming it was in the 240 or under range. 235 is pretty peak for him. I know his personal trainer Ali Crosbie and his boxing trainer Joe Hipp have been working him very hard. And in between that he was working his arse off for Povetkin and Atlas in his championship camp.

As for another fight in 2011....Welliver is 1 of the most active HW's there is. He could be across from Wlad at the end of the year with 1 vaginal infection to Mormeck or whoever got it. He might smack somebody around in front of his Spokane hometown fans. He might run out to New Zealand and beat somebody down for the NZ HW Title, maybe talk some smack on Barrett and Tua to the press while he is there. He could pop up in Vegas or any other American town to rip off another WBC Continental Americas defense. Or he could be back in China too. Maybe a call from Germany or the UK?

12 rounds is nothing to a guy like Welliver. He just went 100+ with Povetkin for peanut wages. Show him the money and he will enter a 12 round HW Prizefighter tourney with the Klitschko Brothers, Haye and the rest of the UK slouches. 36 Rounds in 1 Night!

I wasn't joking about the 36 rounds in a night either. Welliver is a throwback like that. Not even 10 years as a pro he has 343 Pro HW rounds. He has never been knocked down. In the old days, even a very fat Chauncy Welliver does not get stopped by the INCOMPETENT REF against Solis, and he probably outlasts Solis and finally drops the Cuban in round 30 or so. The dude has 100 frigging fights since he was 16 years old for cash money....that is throwback man. He was winning Toughmans from all the HW men at 16-17 years old.

Rewind this ***** to 1911 and Chauncy Welliver is still traveling all over the place prizefighting. And with his chin and stamina, he is probably a legendary HW in that era. The guy was simply born too late...nothing but sissies calling it quits after 12 rounds. 1 of his old trainers Greg Haugen was another guy like that. 15 rounds aint ****, lets keep going.

Imagine the cash you could have made with Chauncy in the old days. You travel town to town with the fair and you present Chauncy and challenge any man in the crowd to fight him. Before he lost weight, all kinds of ripped up dudes would challenge him and the promoter would clean up. Chauncy would have made a killing in the old days of boxing.
