I'll post this again: The way I see Floyd fighting and frustrating Sergio is by coming forward with his high guard and catching and neutralizing Sergio's jab while he tries to establish his jab. It's hard to out jab a southpaw who is taller than you (Ortiz) but if he keeps his hands down, then you can land easy. Floyd will also keep his left foot outside of Sergio's right and make sure he has the better angles in the fight. I noticed that Sergio let Barker have the better position plenty of times in the fight. I see Floyd maybe getting caught a few times in the first few rounds from Sergio countering him, while Floyd tries attack him with he hands down. Barker had success because he didn't give Sergio much to counter and when he did throw, he would step back and also bring his hands quick and high enough for him not to get countered. I think Floyd will feint Sergio into moving a certain way with his hands down and then follow up with a lead right. He'll also make sure to get out the way and pot shot to avoid counters like this This content is protected Sergio after a while may try to start leading more like he did with Barker, but Floyd won't stand still when he flurries. In the words of Money Mayweather - "You won't see him hitting me with that wild ****" Also Sergio is the bigger man, but if they end up in the clinch (which I expect Floyd to fight in the pocket some), then Floyd will get the better of it. I think Sergio's inside fighting is lacking. Even when Barker had him on the ropes, he would just sit there and put one hand up and get caught over and over.
I agree. Sergio is good at adapting in fights, but he takes a few rounds to do it. Floyd does it sometimes instantly.
you know i'm glad people think Floyd would beat Maravilla now, maybe Foyd is thinking that as well and will give him the fight.
If its at 150 I got PBF all the way! 154.. I might lean towards Sergio! BuT! If It Takes Sergio 6-7 rds to get going against PBF, it would be WAY to late!
Glad you came to this thread. I finally came up with my answer to this fight. I realized Floyd will try to walk down Sergio and still be able to avoid his power
How's it going man? Ahhaaa i though martinez was quicker than he was in the barker fight! Being british i was going crazy! I thought barker was going to win at the point where martinez was breathing heavy because of his nose! Happy with barkers performance though Martinez would be way to easy for floyd to hit IMO, but would martinez box with his gloves down against floyd?
At 150 it is a non contest at 154 i did think martinez would win BUT now i have decided that floyd would hit martinez all night long and be to quick to get countered big! But would martinez box with his gloves down against floyd?
I've said it before and I will say it again. Mayweather is too small for Martinez, he wouldn't be able to handle his power. If they were the same size at 147 then yes floyd would win but that is not the case now is it.
Dude please you are comparing sergio to ortiz. First of all Ortiz's accuracy is **** and he is not as fast as sergio, not to mention power.
Mayweather's defense > Barker's defense (although Barker's is quite good) Mayweather's right hand > Barker's right hand (in placement and execution, if not raw power) Mayweather's work-rate > Barker's work-rate (sad as that really is ) Barker is bigger and stronger. Mayweather is just better - in every other way. I used to see this as 50-50. Now I somewhat favor Mayweather.
