I reckon you'll find that with the new tv deal coming up, and the salary cap to be risen by quite a lot, players will be taking back ended contracts knowing that greater riches await them in the coming years.

It was Ian Roberts that started the trend of back ended contracts. Alan Jones also tried to introduce them at Balmain.

Thats what caused Roberts' defection to Manly, as Souths would have no part of giving him a back ended deal.
Hoppa then went over the deal to make sure it was all legit.

Of course we know the situation... However's winning is in your posts

Just look at your avatar for proof

Hoppa leaving Manly to play for Parra... Sweet.

That'll leave, the Tonga Bros, Sandow, Hayne, Moi Moi, a couple of decent forwards and a a half combo with a good fullback, will help immensely.

Why would Mead go to Bunnies, he shoulda went to Parra... :bart Would have loved to see your posts then... :hey

Definitely mate, he was playing some good exciting footy, he should be Hooker IMO. His playing from dummy half was immense.

I'd have him as B+ cos lets face, he didn't have much to go off haha. That 19 year old from Townsville was a good little player too. Can't remember his name, Zane Mitchell or something?

Maitua was a solid buy in year otherwise full of duds. In fact he showed a lot more heart and urgency in games that a lot of the other players IMO

Towards the back end of last season he was playing solid footy, but nothing to crack a woody over... He's no Hindmarsh that's for sure.

Agreed. If he stays on he would be good player for the team.

Horo made quite a few line busts but jeez went missing in defence quite a lot, I still think he has potential. Also impressed by some of the young props. Except for the performance against Souths, for the most part the worst thing about the back half of Parra's season was their inability to close out games. They would have been in the eight if they had won the games that were theirs to win in the last half of the season.
