Because he's the biggest draw in the sport, has the biggest name and the best skill set and generates that many buys. He also has opponents who will fight at low percentages to face him as they still make career pay days while getting a shot at the champ.

It would be dishonest for a guy like Khan to ***** if Floyd offered him $5 million for a fight, but you can guarantee that's what happens.

People don't want to fight Floyd because they think they can beat him. They want to fight Floyd because they know they get career high pay days.

If Pacquaio really wanted to fight Floyd and thought he'd win, he'd drop his percentage to 30% and make it impossible for Floyd to say no.

We all know Floyd is all about the money, he ****ing named himself it - so he doesn't give a ****, he's in a position where he generates these sales despite who he faces. If Pacquaio wants to fight on the ideals of legacy and honour, he can fight Floyd - if he wants to fight Floyd for money, he won't.

Let's say the numbers that have come out are true

1.3 million buyers at $59.99 each (exclude the $10 HD fee) = $77 million.
Sponsorship from Tecate and other sponsors/advertisements = $15-20 million
Livegate = approximately $10 million.

So this fight card generated approximately (at least) $100 million in total revenue. Generally on a promotion based, 15% of total revenue is your overhead budget for marketing, venue

Leaving 85 million.

Pay off Victor Ortiz, $2.5 million
Pay off other fight cards in total, lets be generous, $5 million
Sanctioning fees, doctor fees, judge fees, etc, $1 million

Leaving 76.5 million to be split between HBO, Goldenboy and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Let's say HBO takes 20% net and Golden boy takes 20% net (high estimates) - Floyd collects $45.9 million.

It's simple mathematics.
