Unlike d previous thread , this 1 contains numerals and boxrec links :happy. So why Julian Jackson didn't even make this list ? Joey Archer , Sim Thopmkins and Kingptech are d 3 best of this list as far as I currently know , followed by Ebihara . Tiger Jack Fox does not deserve , about most of d rest I simply don't know enough yet , but I suppose it is because they just weren't all that good . What about Jorge Lujan ? Marlon Starling ? Jose Luis Ramirez ? Juan LaPorte ? Aaron Davis ? Simon Brown ? they sure were better than Terry Norris and Ken Norton who got in . There should be a vote about taking some out . Robbi Sims & Merqui Sosa deserve better than Norton & Norris Also , I bet William Kid Parker deserves at least more than msot of d names in that list . If U keep introducing an old timer every year (all the more if u do 3) , then in d end every old timer who ever fought , even Drunkey John Phatson will b introduced , just because he fought 15 HOFers (and stopped 3 , 1 of them with an intentional low headbutt , and another with d help of his loaded with nails gloves , rights reserved to Angelo Dundee's great grandfather , but the newspaper's editor was d cousin of Phatson's manager so he emitted it) . Same with d "modern" fighters , there were many names there less deserving than Keith Holmes . And Terry Norris and Ken Norton should b out .
Well, I would expect Kilrain to be inducted in the pioneer category, not as an old timer, regardless of the "Last bout in or prior to 1892." I've noticed the IBHOF sometimes plays a little loosely with the purported guidelines. Henry, you did mention last December that while only two were supposed to get in on the old timers ballot, three wound up getting selected. I've expressed my partiality for Sarron before. He did get out of his rivalry with Freddie Miller holding the FW Title, and his induction would further reinforce Armstrong's stature. Others here have also favorably cited Petey as a suitable candidate for enshrinement. McFadden has been touted for years as somebody who should have been in a long time ago. Elbows KO 23 Gans at the Brooklyn AC on Friday, April 14, 1899 is one of the monumental knockout wins of all time. This is apparently the only noncontroversial stoppage win anybody ever posted over a prime Old Master. (Gans was then officially 70-4-9, with all four defeats via decision.) No great quarrel from me over some of the other names on that Old-Timer's ballot. I'd be interested in seeing more feedback.
On this years ballot, as was last year, it states 2, But like you stated, they put in 3, so that's why I put 2 or 3.
That's what I thought while reading it. I actually thought Erne was already in. I definitely think O'Dowd should be in, and McGoorty is probably a good pick too. Sarron is more borderline IMO, but justifiable.
