Many question the credibility of tysons opposition, especially in his prime, was beating Micheal Spinks his defining fight? if not which fight would say is his defining fight and why?

Larry Holmes. Larry had adequate time to prepare regardless of what he says. No one before or after treated him like that. Regardless of the two fights with Mike, Larry was the better Heavyweight and Mikes best win IMO

Evan Fields or Lenny Lewis were Tyson's defining fights, cos they were teh only HEAVYWEIGHT ATG's he fought - And his record VS them was 0-3. :rofl:rofl:rofl Old Homer does NOT count cos he was 38 yrs old, fat And shot, even though he did IMO somehow outpoint WBC Chump Olliver McCall 7 yrs later in 1995 as a Ancient-as-**** OAP! maybe it was just his lucky day - or unlucky day cos of them sly Donny King Judges who gave it to their boyo teh Atomic Bull! well that was B$ as far as dodgey lame decision go! :deal

I think his best win may have been Tucker, Tubbs or THomas, but his moment against the greats were Holmes and Spinks, both having the argument for the linear championship

Do you honestly consider the Ali who fought Foreman to have been SHOT ?? :huh

Ali was still the best heavyweight in the world at that time, and that particular version would have given any prime all time great fits. He may have been slightly past it,comparing him to his 25 year old version, but he was in no way SHOT !!!!

    Sugar Peter Mcneeley!! Hahahaha!

In all seriousness Trevor Berbick, Mick Spinks or Larry Holmes.

Forget Holy and Lewis...both of those guys fought malnutritioned skinny mike post prison who threw jab overhand right most every fight as he'd lost the basic skills that'd he'd used pre prison...not too mention he'd also lost muscle mass.

He did n't really have a single defining fight,as such. Nobody stands out on his resume. His defining PERFORMANCES came in 1988,as he was the best that he ever got in that year.

I think that Razor Ruddock stands out on his resume for this reason...Razor was never the same after fighting Mike. Especially the second fight where it was a back and forth battle...one which Holy would've and has been lauded for. If the Ruddock that faced Tyson had faced Lennox Lewis...we wouldn't have heard of Lennox...opinion but a plausible one IMO

Among serious people who follow boxing post-prison tyson was known more as a circus act, rather than for his boxing ability, in his peak he was rarely tested hence the idea that he fought tomato cans stems! but i think this is unfair, he was simply on a different level at that time!

The second ruddock fight was probabily the most competitive fight that mike won, but people rarely talk about it, hence its not seen as his defining fight by fans in general..

A bit past his best, yeah. If we give him a score of 10 for his peak in 1967,then the Ali of the Foreman fight deserves an 8.

Beating Holmes, meant that the torch had been passed to Tyson.

The megafight was SPINKS. This was THE man (according to some).
Ring had Spinks as their champ. AlI picked Spinks to beat Tyson.

Tyson cleared out the division, beat the former legend, beat his No1 contender and unified the titles and beat the dangerous newcomer. IMO he cemented his legacy before prison.
    End of.
Holyfield and co, came later, although theyre similar ages, Tysons career was already on the downward slide while Holy was at his peak around 91-92 (when they would have originally fought)

Buster Douglas was NOT a big fight, thats why it was held in Tokyo in the first place, because nobody wanted to see it.

Ruddock is an underrated win, over what was then, a dangerous newcomer. Ruddock didnt really get to peak and Tyson destroyed him and ruined him for good.
Taking 19 rounds of punishment from Tyson, will not do you any good.

Berbick fight was Tysons coming out and establishing himself, Tucker fight unified the titles and established himself as the man. Hiolmes fight was the passing of one ATG to another. Spinks fight, he destroyed his number one contender and then Ruddock, he beat a very good newcomer

Ali-Frazier - Gets lauded as 2 undefeated heavweights to see whose the best.
Bowe-Holyfield - was the same story
Foreman- Frazier - Foreman gets eternal credit for what he did to Frazier,
Tyson-Spinks gets shitted on because Tyson mopped the floor with Spinks in 91 seconds.
If hed gone through a 15 round war like the above, hed still get shitted on.

    Tyson fought 4 ATGs
    Holmes, Spinks, Holyfield, Lewis.
He Kod 2 while in his prime, he lost to one after 4 years in prison and lost to the other 15 years past his peak. Nothing to be ashamed of there.
