Recently I heard Floyd Mayweather say that Larry Merchant needs to be fired. I also heard people say that there entire crew needs to be fired because they are too old and hiring some younger people will bring in more fans for the Sport. DO you agree?

I like Larry Merchant old ass, because he will always ask the questions that the people in the crowd want to know? I like to listen to emual steward because of all his many years of experience with top class fighters. I like to listen to JIM get hype and say **** like "BANG, BANG, YOU WANT MORE BANG! BANG!,". I even like the Letterman who I didn't see for like 10 years but I know his voice. I also like to listen to LArry get smart with Roy Jones on live air. I really which they bring back George Foreman.

They have real boxing historians bring you the fight unlike MMA who has that ***** from "FEAR FACTOR" announcing their fights. What the **** do he know about fighting? Who yet he can relate a fight to an epsiode of Fear Factor when someone ate some rat balls?

See the differece is this is a real SPORT, not like MMA.

But thats why jones or steward are there though, to give some boxing insight and drop some knowledge.

    Pros:
    • Jim Lampley – conveys a lot of excitement and passion in his commentary. He has a loooong list of legendary remarks in all of our favourite fights.
    • Harold Lederman – always a pleasure to hear him give his reasons for his scorecards.
    • Larry Merchant – not anything spectacular when contributing during a fight. But I commend him for always speaking his mind and never sugar-coating things. He asks the tough questions that need to be asked.
    • Max Kellerman – has an interesting perspective on a lot of things, and often points things out which you normally wouldn’t consider.
    • Emanuel Steward – has a lot of training experience, I suppose.
    • Roy Jones – has a lot of in-ring experience.
    Cons:
    • Larry Merchant – way too slow when he talks.
    • Max Kellerman – loves the sound of his own voice. Often talks too much.
    • Emanuel Steward – everything goes the way he expected. Everything.
    • Roy Jones – has a habit of always pointing out the obvious (nowhere near as bad as Lennox, though. He was awful).
And by biggest gripe with the HBO commentary team, is their bias. It's very off-putting as a viewer. And what make things worse, is their total disregard for foreign fighters who have either put up a valiant effort or have just been blatantly robbed. I mean, not even bothering to interview them? The ****, man. The recent Martinez-Barker fight is a perfect example of this.

Larry is the man, Lampley is normally very good, and Manny is also spot on, as well. On the other hand, Roids and Kellerman both ****ing suck.

Anyone bitching about Lampley will miss him when he's gone. Just imagine Mayweather/Pacquiao with Bob Papa or Steve Albert calling the drama. :tired

I agree with all of this...^

To me, the people who agree with Money May are either kids or generation Y's who are the in the new MMA crowd. The HBO crew has a rich history in the sport, and they are class. I do wish they'd bring Foreman back, he was very good at commentating and added much color (personality, humor and knowledge) to the crew. The only issue I have with the current crew is I can barely understand RJJ, he really needs to work on his english...

I like them fine, no matter who they put in there somebody would be whining about it if they don't favor their fighter. Lampley and Merchant have a lot of experience ringside and they would be missed once they were gone. Max is getting better and though he stumbles his thoughts at times, he's clearly a true student of the sport and brings a different dynamic than Merchant. Steward is fine, not my favorite, but acceptable, like one guy pointed out he always needs to be right, I understand this because clearly he thinks he knows more about boxing than the rest of the team, and he likely does, but its kind of old.

We're tired of Lamply yelling, "hard right hand" when a right hand hasn't even landed(and in some cases, not even thrown).

Larry Merchant is a dying breed. He will ask the questions the viewers want to hear answered and isn't in the least bit intimidated by any of the fighters. He leaves the fanboyism and nut-hugging to the other guys on the panel. Big fights aren't quite the same without the old *******. I don't even notice he talks that slowly because whenever he is at the mic, he demands universal attention. What he has to say is more than worth the wait.
