I remember in kickboxing, our amateur US team had about 10 part time fighters who worked and saved to get to the international competition. Each of the Eastern Euro teams had about 40-50 fighters with what looked like professional cheerleading squads. I recognized some of the fighters from the professional ranks as well. THey are all sponsored by the govt and train fulltime and regard fighting as their jobs.
Nah , on the contrary , these Eastern Europeans are DESTROYING the little credibility amateur boxing still has ( I'm talking about their judges , not their boxers ) . This list just shows how manufactured the results in these Championships were , it looks like they ( AIBA ) needed to guarantee all those nations a place in the finals so they look more " democratic " and balanced than the usual powerhouses ( Cuba , Russia , Ukraine , USA , etc ) . It's all been fixed . Shame . Peace .
The UK as a whole and not sliced up into its provinces is doing well too. I'm not too surprised that Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet states all are doing well seeing as they have a rich history in the amateur game. For me personally its nice to see India with someone in there.
They used to be anyways , now with all this corruption happening it's very difficult to judge who's a powerhouse and who isn't . Shame . Peace .
