Pacquiao vs Marquez; early predictions

Pacquiao by stoppage in under 9 rounds.

Put simply, he is a better fighter now than he was in '08 and before.

They will be a very similar size on the night yet again, but I believe Pac has better footwork, movement, right hand, and punch variety than he had back then.

Pacquiao will be too fast, too explosive, too skilled for Marquez. If a fighter like Katsidis can catch, hurt and drop Marquez, Pac will bury him.

I'm fully expecting Pacquiao's killer instinct to be back for this fight. He'll be fired up to prove once and for all that he is a superior fighter to JMM.

 

JMM has fought bravely at lightweight, but the shots he took from Baby Bull and Katsidis make me think he is clearly past his best and will probably have a Round one experience from his first fight with Pac, somewhere in the first 4 rounds of this fight, but won't be able to escape this time.

 

Then that’s just pure speculation.

I mean, why wasn’t JMM considered old and shot back when people were demanding Pac to fight him instead of Clottey, Margarito and Mosley? Why has he suddenly become a non-worthy opponent when Pac finally picks him? Not referring to you specifically, but, it appears as though many are already attempting to belittle a good win before it’s even happened. Instead of appreciating the fact that Pacquiao is the massive favourite because of the tremendous improvements he's made, they want to push the false notion that JMM has declined rapidly, instead.

 

I don't think JMM is shot, but he is past his best and unsuited to fighting above 135 against an elite opponent.

I'm still interested in this fight, I just can't see it being as close as their first two and I also agree with you that Pac has improved in recent years.

For Gods sake, a fighter of Marquez' pedigree knows what he's dealing with in the face of Pacquiao.
Marquez in not going to plant his feet, and continously and aggressively dig straights, hooks, and uppercuts to both the head and body at the rate he did against Katsidis.

Anytime you open yourself up as offensively as Marquez did against Kats, you're going to get hit some.

Believe me, the movement Marquez employed in both his fights with Pacquiao will be a constant in his 3rd fight with Pacquiao.

Reminds me of how people were carrying on after Evander Holyfield's scare vs Bert Cooper....."If Cooper almost put him out, Tyson will kill him."

What fans like yourself fail to calculate into the equation is that greats approach a more dangerous fighter, differently than they would a figher the caliber of Katsidis.
