oh ok, nice, I'll try to read some more of his posts, I'm on my break in work at the moment so I'm kinda going through the esb struggle nahm sayin
Charles by complete and utter destruction. This is a man who was knocking a peak Archie Moore and Walcott all over the place, what is Calzaghe going to do?
Surf, no truer words were ever said on ESB. That is how great Ezzard Charles was and his competition in the 1940s.:good:good
He WOULD beat SRR as Ray is dead and Khan is just entering his prime.Although I'm not even sure that Khan wins that one either.
Like the avatar, Swarmer! I have that flyer somewhere. Wade is often overlooked and underappreciated.
Calzaghe wins with either modern rules or the rules of Charles' era. People say Calzaghe maybe lacked a little power and hit open handed far too much. But imagine Calzaghe transported back then, fighting without gloves. Now he has power. In the modern era Charles just gets overwhelmed by volume like every other fighter, barring perhaps Roy Jones Jr.
Thats what all my housemates said at the time I became famous for my crazy score cards - everytime there were fights on we used to all do a scorecard round by round - admittedly the Starie one was a bit excessive but to be fair everyone else in the house at the time - that being 6 of my mates all scored the fight for Starie (but not quite by the margin I had it - but i don't mess around :yep) Same kind of thing can be said of the kessler fight - watched that with the same bunch - and everyone scored it for Kessler - one of my mates even went so far as to say he thought Kessler beat Calzaghe by a wider margin than Starie did haha Also Jones Junior would've IMO made short work of Calzaghe in his prime - he could've damn near finished him in a round if the first round of their actual fight was anything to go by - prime Jones wouldn't have let him off the hook when he had him down in the first
