Manny Steward on the Cotto split

Steward, while overrated is better than anyone Cotto has used in the past, bad move IMO.

 

Cotto doesnt have the size of williams/shane and he cant launch an all-out offensive attack like pac did. He was schooling this guy badly but allowed him to push the pace and push him up against the ropes.He can very well be outboxed + Miguel put 0 bodywork in.

 

How was Steward going to train Cotto for a Dec 3 fight anyway?
Wladimir fights Dec 10th.

 

This. I want to add that Cotto did 0 clinching and stayed in the ropes too long. Margo can definitely be outboxed. Cotto had half the puzzle put together...he just forgot about the other half.

 

If I was Cotto I would've wanted undivided attention for my camp as well. I wouldnt want to pay tons of money for somebody to "phone in" to check on my progress even if that person is the best trainer in the world or whatever.

 

Cotto is of similar size of Shane. He was boxing and countering nicely, but Cotto was on his back foot and not setting his feet and throwing against Margo like he should have been doing.

Cotto is faster and has better defense than Margo, he should be at his chest ripping his body and occasionally taking it upstairs, and when Margo starts to throw tie his ass up and wait for the break. IF he does that, like Shane eventually Margo will crack and the fight will be over, probably quicker than the Shane fight since Margo is shot to **** now. He has the power and ability to implement Shane's gameplan though.

 

How can anyone take you seriously with an avatar like that?
