In my opinion, I cannot see a way for Joe Frazier to even stand a chance against Mike Tyson. My question is what fashion does Mike finish Frazier?

I wouldn't use the Marvis Frazier fight as a barometer for Joe vs Mike. Two different fighters completely. Prime Frazier would be a tough night for anyone. His bob and weave approach would make it difficult for Mike to land consistently and I think the fact that Joe would fight shorter than Mike might actually make it tougher not easier for Mike to land cleanly. Joe was a fighter both in body and mind. He wouldn't be intimidated which was something Tyson counted on against his opponent and he didn't discourage easily either....In fact he didn't discourage at all. If Tyson wins this one it has to be early. If he doesn't take Joe out early...and I admit that is a distinct possibility...then he is in for a very long night.

A close range slugfest with a fast starter, hard puncher and fairly sturdy chin is a bad match for Frazier.. Sure, hypothetically if Joe were to make it to the 9th round and beyond, he might have come from behind to stop a tired and frustrated Tyson, but the problem is that I don't see this fight going any further than perhaps 3 or 4.

Not to mention a better boxer technically, faster hands, better defence, great counter punching. Frazier starting slow and often leaving his chin out to dry isn't going to cut it against Tyson

I'd like to, but i can't really justify any way in which Frazier could win this fight.

I'd be interested in hearing some arguments for Joe Frazier in this match-up.

The argument for Frazier is obviously his inside game. While Tyson usually clinches and shuts down chest to chest, Frazier works. With two hunched fighters coming forward, there's a good chance the fight won't all play out in Mike's favorite middle distance.

That said, prime for prime, this matchup favors Tyson. He better be in top gear, though, if he lets Frazier in and drags into a war Frazier mentally has the best of it. He won wars with better men than Razor Ruddock.

Even so, I would not put money on this fight. The only two men Frazier lost to, Tyson could very well do the same. While I do not in any circumstance see Frazier giving frontrunner Douglas a pass.
