Why isn't Cotto well liked in P.R.?

cause he's badass and not a ***** cheater like tito and juanma

 

Assume that its becos he doesn't have the outspoken qualities of a Tito and JuanMa....Maybe?

 

A lot of people have said that it's because he's more introverted and not as social or festive as the PRican people might like. Quiet guy. He's got quite the backing at NYC and MSG, though.

 

Hes an introverted guy and keeps to himself.

NY loves him though.

Ive actually heard from people in PR that hes a bit of a dick but i guess he might come off like that through his demeanor.

Still the guy is a badass. Ive met him once here when he was in training camp for Mayorga and was a nice as hell as well as steward and his conditioning coach. People were allowed to come in and watch him if they wanted.

 

probably wouldnt bother cotto if his fights werent even aired on tv...hes all business...bad for hype, but hes a professional and gentleman....

 

Its because people here are stupid. They think he has to be like Trinidad or everybody else. He is not Miss Universe,he is a damn fighter. He keeps to himself, never smiles and that bothers people.

 

people hated holmes....who did he follow..muhammad ali? everyone appreciate holmes now..and they will all do the same when cotto is done

 

if you meet any of the cotto family you would understand....back in 2009 i walked into evangelista's gym in bairoa, caguas PR and they immediately assumed i was from new york or something...but his personality wasnt friendly at all it was indeed all business right away he put me to hit the bag and do some jumprope...he stared a couple of times but the facial expression he had was always serious!! they really dont want to be treated like celebrities and they really hate ppl being in their business(personal affairs)

 

Because he lost fights.

 

Cotto sort of answered this himself a number of times. His father, who passed away over a year ago, was in the military and such was very disciplined and mature. So, he was that way with Cotto as well, he didn't have it easy, so he in retrospect, developed that same type of disciplined, professional demeanor that his father instilled on him. He knows what people say about him, he tries not to let it bother him but that he can only be what he is at the moment. If he's focused, you'll see it, if he's happy, you'll see that, if he's sad, you'd see that. I've spoken to him, he really loves his fans and is very appreciative of them, always thanking them for their support, he will make time to give an autograph or sign photos. As was said about his training camp, I live only about 10 mins from where he is training. I went to pay a visit yesterday but he was not in yesterday but the entire gym had his banners, the cotto angel symbol in the middle. Other boxers were working out there, the head guy says that he'd been in today and you can watch him train. Could not make it today cause of work but will try to within the next week or so.

 

also, he doesn't dance around all gay with the puerto rican flag the way tito and juanma do/did.....he's a soldier, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he's really mexican.....y'all can keep jose cotto though, just give us MIGUEL ANGEL DE LA MUERTE COTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

 

They think he is quiet because he thinks he is better and arrogant. He said it's cause he is shy though. Also because he parties to much and lacks discipline

 

Because he speaks english. And because his last name is Cotto instead of Trinidad.
