Wrong!!!!! If you had Marquez winning 9-3 as I did, giving Pacquiao a 10-6 for that first round, that equates to a 114-111 score in favor of Marquez. Anyone that had the first Marquez-Pacquiao fight a draw would have had it scored 7 rounds for Marquez, 4 for Pacquiao, and 1 even.
Exactly.... Also people want to talk about the ref ****ing up, how about Cortez' dumbass... Based on the Soto fight, Cortez should have atleast taken a point from Pac for the late hit, but **** it, it didn't happen, JMM fought his heart out, used his skills, and imo won 9 of the 12 rds. More than enough to win him the fight. Pac had a new HBO contract, and the two HBO judges knew what their job was that night.
I had Pac by KO1. Unlike some refs I follow the rules of boxing and declared Pac the winner after the 3rd knockout.
I had it 6 rounds for Marquez, 3 for Manny, and 3 even. Out of those 3 even rounds, 2 were undisputably even, imho, and one leaned slightly towards Pac. In my eyes, it was either a draw, or Pac won by the skin of his teeth. A 115-110 score for either man is just ridiculous...
The first fight should've been a split decision win for Pac. The second should have been a draw. The second fight was really that close.
Same scoring here too, except I had Marquez winning the 2nd fight by a point. The second fight really came down to round 7 & 9. Round 1 and 12 where somewhat close, but not quite as close in nature as the two rounds I mentioned.
Ive rewatched them both this week, Pac won the first one and Marquez the second in my eyes too, one round to Pac in the first, then Marquez by two. Its amazing how round 1 of the 2nd fight is like round 13 when you watch the two fights back to back!
You can not selectively pick and choose fights being scored more favorably toward your favorite fighter. I had each man winning each fight by a point. I'll admit, the first fight seems a little clearer in who won, although it's not fair to say Marquez went 0-1-1 against Pacquaio.
To me, when watching Marquez-Pac II it all comes down to Round 7 & 9. Round 1 and 12 are close in nature, although I think Pac clearly edges the first round in work (Although Marquez lands the cleanest shot. I believe Kevin Iole scored Round 1 for Marquez). Round 12 is close as well, although I think Marquez edges it similarly to the way Pac won round 1. That means for me for Pac to win he has to win both rounds 7 & 9. It seems very unfavorable to Marquez to actually score both of those rounds to Pacquiao. At the fairest, they split those rounds, or tied them, or at least one of them was a 10-10 round. I can conceive both rounds being scored for Pac, though. Round 7, I believe Pac edges, and Round 9 is very very close. As a Marquez fan maybe I gave Marquez the round. Maybe it should be a 10-10 round. If that's a case then the fight is a draw. At the end of the day, I feel with the fairest scoring that the best Pac should do in their second fight is a draw (Although 114-113 Pac is acceptable scoring. It's not the easiest fight to score).
