Calzaghe won't ever get a sniff at Haglers greatness. The problem for Hagler is he was a natural middle weight, he would not cut weight. So Calazaghe would be a lot bigger, about 20 pounds bigger.

Calzaghe has the style to beat Hopkins.

Would Hagler be in his 40s or 50s for this mythological fight? If this is another age advantaged Calz struggles to barely beat an old man what would be the point?

Prime for prime ... Hagler decimates Calz ... one is elite & the other is Calz.

Joe doesn't have any significant head movement or punch avoidance capability, wouldn't have a reach advantage, doesn't have better footwork, doesn't have particularly good punching technique, has inconsequential power, and couldn't avoid getting dropped by OLD men and even one rather pedestrian fighter (Salem) in his career. Joe spent almost an entire (long) career in a terrible era facing the weakest opposition in one of the worst divisions so he couldn't possibly be prepared for what a talent like a focused Hagler would represent.

Hagler's accumulation of clean accurate punches would break him down and finish him mid to late. Marvin would come in prepared for a fighter with a weight advantage but a talent deficit and would take Joe apart piece by piece round by round.

If it is 2006-2008 and Hagler is retired in his 50s and comes back for a one off I would go with a close Calz decision (with Joe probably tasting the canvas in the first round from a Hagler muscle memory laser beam left). Still, being retired for twenty years and coming back for one fight would likely be too much for Marvin in such a case. Calz 7-5.

I see Hagler as the winner but reckon Calzaghe can at least see out the distance.

Hagler's not gonna freeze under Joe's fast but weak flurries like so many of Joe's opponents have.

Calzaghe's just too big here. He has 2 inches in height and about 20 lbs in weight. (160 same day weigh-in v 168 previous day weigh-in). He's faster, busier and has an excellent chin.

Most likely outcome, Calzaghe by decision.

    That said, Marvin was greater.

    great fight

but i wonder if Joe could hurt Hagler?

any way it has war written all over it

i wonder if Joe's handspeed will trouble Hagler in the way Leonards did and if Hagler would stay composed with Joe's style

likewise can Joe handle Haglers pressure and attack when Marvin pours it on

interesting fantasy matchup to say the least
