Ya cant blame him for chasing the money. He's established himself as a top 3 coach, and has always been very loyal.

Could very well be the end of an era with Manly. Although they've been a powerhouse on the field for the last 5 or so seasons, they are struggling financially.
Wonder who they'll get to take over. :think

Hasler was a product of the Manly culture and the engine will still run without him. 2 Former players are in the running who are already at the club

Carney = Accident looking for a place for it to happen.

Come 2013, Foran, DCE, and Maloney will be available. Better try and get a half out of those guys.

Saw Cliffy on tv a few weeks back. Still keeping somewhat fit, and still playing somewhere. He has filled out though. His head is massive.

Wonder if Daniel Andersons name will come into the picture here. I still reckon hes a good coach.

Anderson will have Manly players to mould not the Eels crew he was given

He could go well anywhere I reckon

Yeah, can't blame Dessie for chasing the money, he's coached Manly (for what, 8 years now?) and taken them to 3 GFs and won them 2, can't begrudge him wanting a new challenge and a retirement fund.

My main concern is that some players may go with him - Brett Stewart's very close to him and has a get out clause in his contract that allowed him to leave if Dessie's tenure had been cut short. They both come off contract next year, so it wouldn't surprise me to see both Brett and Glen go with him.

I was wondering if they'd blood Tooves next season and keep an eye out for a new senior coach at the same time, but Teke, you reckon Cliffy's the man for the job eh?

I played soccer against him a couple of times this year - he plays for Beacon Hill over-35s 7th division and he came up to play in goals for the 3rd division team to help them out when they were short. We beat them both games but he's a monster in the goals, swats the ball from the air from any position, and if he goes to ground to secure the ball there's no way anyone's getting past him. His placekicks from goal are classic - the big toe punt straight down to the opposition's half and over the touchline - 40/20!!! :yep He's a good bloke too.

It would be another slap in the face to the Eels too.

I wonder if we'll see a mass exodus of Manly players leave after next season.

Perhaps one or two will go, but not everyones a Darius Boyd. I hope Rusty is making plans to invite DCE and his missus over to his place for dinner. :hey

Paul Vautin,Max Krilich. Krilich was a smart player but a poor businessman who went bankrupt a few years back
maybe he would be a good replacement and Manly will be helping out a club stalwart. You read it here first.:deal

Cliffy is the goal keeper at soccer? :rofl:rofl:rofl

It was a rumour I read that he could take over. If you asked me 10 years ago who would be the better coach out of Cliffy and Hasler I would have answered Cliffy cause he was the better player, but that really doesnt mean much.

Hasler is going Back-to-Back in 2012 Baby :happy:happy:happy

Nah, he was apparently the gun striker/leading goalscorer in his div 7 team this season, but when he came up to help out the div 3 team he played in goals :yep

He's involved in coaching one of the club league teams on the peninsula - might be Narraweena? - so he could possibly be experienced enough to have a go at coaching Manly...

Far from it. You'd be welcome to him. I didn't hear too many crying when he was axed.
