The Robinson who Ko'd Jake Lamotta vs The roy Jones who Ko'd Civil Servants

That was Roy's prime before he stepped up against the likes of Glen Johnson and started getting iced

A oft repeated line is "no-one beats prime Jones"

    :think

Robinson is greater than jones, but H2H jones beats Robinson, he was smaller than jones and H2H P4P he wasn't that much better than jones either to overcome his size disadvantage

Jones speed will not have nearly the effect you think on SRR. Jones has a glass jaw and that is the difference and a big one. SRR knocks him out ten out of ten times.
SRR is the real deal like the G that be kareem mayfield.

I have Roy Jones Jr. People talk about his chin but in his prime he didn't get hit much.

Jones didn't step up and start getting iced by GJ.. This happened after he went up to heavy weight and back down..

Jones is the bigger man which makes this thread a bit stupidly obvious. For the record i believe robinson to be more rounded but he would have struggled with Jones.

Are we talking prime SRR at 147 and a Prime RJJ at 168? If thats the case I take Jones. Too Big, Too fast for even the great SRR to overcome.

It would be an awesome series...and yes it wouldn't be just one fight. Both would win some, Roy would win at least one pretty convincingly I'd say..but ultimately the cheen would get cracked and I think Robinson would come out the better man.

Umm Lamotta was not a great fighter, the only reason that he was even able to compete with Ray is bacause he was about 20 pounds heavier. Which by the way its about the same advantage that Jones would have.

But to be honest while its fun to think about these kinds of fights, they are very much impossible, and not because of the time difference but because of the size difference. Had Jones fought in those days he would have been a heavyweight, with is walking around weight being around 185 pounds. While today Ray would be a lightweight to jr welter, with his walking around weight being about 155 pounds. In those days you didnt have time to cut much weight because they fought every month. Doing so caused fighters to fight very close to thier walking around weight. Making them much smaller fighters then those of today. So while they may look the same size they arent REALLY.

Robinson never saw an animal like 168 lb Roy. Roy wins 9/10 times.
