This is great news.....and If Machida loses again...he'll commit hara-kiri.... If Jones wins , it will be his 3rd huge win of his career....

    Shogun
    Jackson
    Machida....

    (which would be amazing)....

To this day , i think that the biggest LHW career achievement in mma history was Shogun's 2005 GP streak.

Where he had to defeat the following top fighters:
    -Jackson
    -Rogerio Nogueira
    -Alistair Overeem
    -Ricardo Arona

But if Jones beats Machida.... he'll clearly be a close 2nd imo.

There's a part of me who's excited for this fight...but at the same time....Styles make fights...And it could be very boring too. Maybe Machida won't be able to deal with Jon's striking or wrestling....Or maybe he'll keep his distance and find a way to frustrate him and grab the decision....

I've heard guys that he's trained with at Jackson's say between 225 and 230. At the end of a camp he generally cuts down from 215-220.

I highly doubt Machida will take this to the ground. It's not his thing and Jones' GNP is nasty. I expect he'll use his footwork and timing to get inside Jones' reach and try to win it on the feet.

In my opinion Machida is the only guy at LHW that has a chance against Jones because he's so unusual. If he can't, I don't think anyone can.

I mean I get it and all and it's a better fight but goddamn I feel sorry for Rashad.

In my eyes he's got the best chance. I don't think Rashad stands a chance and the only other guy is Phil Davis, but I don't think he's as good as Jones.

One of my dream matches that I thought we wouldn't see for a long time. The Machida era was never over!

    This.
I don't think he's quite earned his way back yet, but Machida is a much more interesting fight to me at this point than Rashad.

If Jones pulls this out, his title run will be
    Shogun
    Rampage
    Machida
    Hendo/Shogun II/Rashad

    ****ing hell

Uhhhh....I didn't have a point other than relaying an answer to a question that was asked explicitly about Jones' weight. Did you even read the post that I'd quoted?

Interesting fight though Evans is still the biggest style intrigue.

I feel really bad for Evans. He has continued to improve as a fighter, he has earnt the shot after Rampage then again after Ortiz. At this rate, he might want to fight again before a title shot.

I honestly do not understand why people think Evans is an intriguing style match-up with Jones... at all.

Evans mixes striking with wrestling... except Jones is vastly superior to him in both areas.

Jones is bigger, stronger, longer, more powerful, more varied, more elusive, more resilient, etc etc etc...

Jones can do everything Evans can do except better, and he can also do things that Evans cannot.

Machida brings something different to the table - he is the intriguing style match-up for Jones, not a smaller orthodox grappler/boxer like Rashad.
