The Argentinean Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez current WBC diamond middleweight champion assured on an interview in his country that between March and May he’ll fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“Andy Lee asked to fight me but the truth is I’m only thinking in to fight either Manny Pacquiao or Mayweather. Those are the fights I want, and I believe that in five months the bout with either of them is going to take place” explained “Maravilla” who also said that “between March and May I’ll probably being facing Mayweather”.

After last Saturday's defeating of the British fighter Darren Barker by knock-out in the tenth round, the Argentinean will take a two weeks break, time in which he’ll do press conferences.

Between the Philippine and the American, the South American said that “Money” is a better fighter than “Manny”

"Mayweather is much more talented, he has a lot of wisdom and he takes advantage of his strengths. His defense is to attack, neither is an easy fighter, but the less dangerous one is Pacquiao, Mayweather is an enigma. He knows exactly what he’s doing when he’s in the ring,” Martinez said.

    Isnt the proper term Argentine?

  3. Yes, it's Argentine.

    More important question...

Legitimate claim or is he keeping his name in the media by mentioning Floyd/Pac?

Nothing new here, but unless it is at 154+ I have no interest at all in this fight.
I cant see either guy stepping up to 154 to fight him when there are options that are lucrative in khan/bradley and less risky.
Floyd and Manny are both near the end of their career I dont see them taking a risk like that, beside that they can always fight each other and makes the biggest payday ever.

Argentinian = to be Argentinian, to be from Argentina, like 'to be American'

Argentine = a native of the country of Argentina, like 'an American'

Anyway, Martinez vs Mayweather would be an amazing fight, and I'd LOVE to see it.

Apparently this interview was taken from martinez in his homeland. Before the Barker fight there were rumours going round that this fight was being negotiated.

Fingers crossed it comes to fruition.

mosley was cherrypicking yes, if he schedules a fight with bradley before trying to get one with may while he is available its a cherrypick as well.
Martinez 154 is the only thing that would be a valid reason for each guy not to fight the other next imo.

I think other than those 2 fighting him makes the most sense.
I think timmy gets knocked out but who is more dangerous at 147? maybe berto? but he would take a beating as well.

I asked people on this forum about 2 weeks ago " who will fight Martinez first between Pacquiao and Mayweather?" and most of them said Floyd will fight Martinez first while some people said neither will fight Martinez.

    Whats wrong with 154?

Its not a catchweight and it makes sense.
