Nat Fleischer also regarded Fitzsimmons as the greatest pound for pound knockout puncher in boxing history.
Back to the topic at hand. Kid McCoy 155lb, floored Tom Sharkey twice. Does anyone here honestly think McCoy was on Ketchel's level as a puncher?
Actually, we've been on topic and you keep circumventing and avoiding any and all damaging points made to your assertions. More to the point is that you think that Ketchel, who was stretched by average punching Jack Johnson with a single blow and never knocked out a ranking heavyweight contender, can somehow go through a power punching heavyweight like Tom Sharkey like a hot knife through butter, something that even a grizzly like Jim Jeffries couldn't even do.
This has already been addressed several times in other threads. Once again, you choose to ignore any and all arguments that burst holes into your own. Ah well. Nobody can make you. Cheers anyway...
To be fair Bats... Fitz also faced MANY more HW than Ketchel did.... So sheer volume proves very little in this instance.
Sharkey was a near equal of Marciano. At his best he might actually be able to beat them all on the same nite. Many ringsiders thought he won the battle at coney isle.
Jimmy Ellis floored Oscar Bonavena twice ... Ali knocked Bonavena out ... Joe Frazier could not floor Bonavena in 25 rounds ... Were Ali and Ellis bigger punchers than Frazier ? You're a knowledgable guy but sometimes your positions have gigantic loopholes ...
McCoy was a big hitter for his weight. In fact Ring Magazine listed McCoy in their top 100 punchers of all time. Proof enough for you? Sharkey, came back to win over McCoy after being floored, just like Ali came back to win after being floored by sub 200 pound guys in Banks or Cooper.
