Some sort of delay. Six seconds into the round and neither has left their corner. The referee is speaking with someone on the apron - not from either corner, a neutral party. They finally begin and Hamilton just hurries around Ryan in close-knit circles, jabbing and ducking. Hamilton leans in and pushes off as Ryan starts to think about putting more shots together. Hamilton steps in throwing up a hook but gets swatted back outside with a right hand - both of them just grazing. Ryan now gets Hamilton pushed back to a corner and tries to work the body, but Hamilton with his busy mitts always has at least one of his long arms folded and pinned up fist-to-bicep. Another long clinch as the two drift together back to the ropes, Hamilton scoring the body shots now. Ryan lands a left hook during an exchange. Ryan now has his back to the ropes as he tries to push Hamilton off while getting tapped down low. Ryan's feet give out and he is again swallowed up by the ropes, bottom first. Hamilton was throwing body shots as he got sucked through, but it is not scored a knockdown.

Round 10

Ryan is going for it, doubling and tripling his jab as he charges in headlong - but Hamilton is dropping down and catching him about the waist, putting the squeeze on him to slow his momentum and then pulling down on his arms to keep them neutralized and flurrying to the body before putting the fasteners back on. Hamilton is flurrying low, and lands a shot well below the belt but on the lower thigh. Ryan is pushed to the ropes by a straight flurry and comes roaring forward as Hamilton hops off to the side to let him go straight by. Clapping flurries by Hamilton, mostly working the body. Ryan is trying to hook him in the head or reach around with a long right hand to spank the side, ineffective.

The commentators are jumping the gun saying Hamilton has taken the title just moments after the final bell, aren't they? :blood With all the dodgy decisions in the sport, you can never be sure until the judges...

Oh wait. Britain. ****ing referee scoring.

Yeah, Hamilton has avenged his loss to Ryan (a DQ back in June) and seized his "British Masters Light-Welterweight title" - whatever the hell that is. :?

 

Dave Ryan is a nice, humble kid. He says that their previous meeting didn't count as it only lasted a minute and a half and didn't tell anything about either of them as fighters. He says for all intents and purposes this was their first encounter and that Hamilton won fair and square.

Hamilton is asked about facing Ashley Theophane, who's sitting ringside. He nervously chuckles and gives some rhetoric about seeing what he's told to do by those who do the telling.

So, we will NOT be seeing Hamilton vs. Theophane. :yep

It might have been better off to just take the day off rather than stoop so low. (not that Choi's originally scheduled opponent set the bar terribly high)

That is the worst record Choi has gone up against since Nesbitt eight years ago. :!:
