I do wish Vitali had of gotten a rematch. Not just to avenge this loss but I think if things had of played out differently he may of retired by now. I think alot of that desire to fight he still has is because of this loss. I would of preffered him to be beaten on points and not get injured at all. Maybe his forced layoff would've been shorter. His hanging around while Wlad is on top is not good for little bro. His upcomming fight with JMM is evidence of that. Gomez, Adamek, Johnson, Solis all these contenders that Wlad could of chosen from. I really want to see him reitre in the next 12 months. Maybe a Haye fight, maybe some other old x champs like himself but at some stage he really should step aside.
WTF are you talking about?!? Vitali is a damned disgrace that is only eclipsed by his China chinned brother. Who has either Klitschko ever beat?
I think there are two misconceptions about the Klitschko vs. Byrd fight: 1. That Byrd was being soundly outboxed and not doing anything. That's not the case. He was in a lot of the rounds and the fight was close. People will always churn out "Klitschko was dominating until the injury caused him to pull out" but that's not really true. It was a hard fight for Vitali. He was getting hit easily and the percentage differences were enormous. Byrd was landing at around 50% and only landed a few less in the entire fight. 2. That it was a very good version of Byrd. He was a good fighter at that point, yeah, but people forget that he fought at 10 days notice. He didn't have time to prepare, which is even more important when facing such an unorthodox fighter. Honestly, I think Byrd was a better fighter than Vitali. Without the injury for Vitali and with a full training camp for Byrd, I would bet on Byrd. I think he'd win about 7/10 fights against Vitali.
I totally agree with points one and two. But not too sure about the 7/10 part. Having said that Byrd was a damn fine fighter and I wouldnt want to bet against him. More of a 50/50 for me. Wlads style was better suited for Byrd.
You tell me, you keep saying vitali is still the hw champ because he beat sanders 7 years ago lol. Changed your mind now?
Yeah there's always been a sense of an incomplete legacy trying to prove himself. I'd agree. Him hanging round beating adamek and haye is especially bad when lil bro is fighting jmm lol.
I agree that Wlad's style is better suited. I think there's that and I also think Wlad is just a better fighter than Vitali, which is why Wlad would likely win 8/10 against Byrd whereas Vitali would always struggle. 7/10 is possibly harsh. I'd definitely think Byrd would win th majority though.
for some reason wlad found it really easy to keep byrd on the end of his shots without much difficulty.
