Also, I completely agree. if next year is a fresh start and everyone knows where they stand then other people can pick up the slack much easier.

:deal You see now why those of us who've been paying attention to Lujan think it's silly for people to expect Mike Jones to just walk through him? Jones has all the raw talent in the world, but he will need to bring his A+ game to tough this one out and remain unbeaten. As good a performance as the Soto Karass rematch, or better.
It's a risky one. Briones has a terribly padded record. As bad as it gets, really. He's also never been televised to my knowledge, which usually means little to no video available. All that turned up was his lone twelve-rounder (which he ended in nine) and he showed some a very aggressive style that saw him get hit a lot in return and grow a bit wild at times, but displayed some power to be taken seriously - scoring several body shot knockdowns - and a pretty good chin of his own. I basically just don't have much faith in Banal's resistance. A last-minute stoppage loss to Rafael Concepcion is forgivable, but it isn't the only factor by any means. The guy is a fantastic offensive fighter, but despite that (maybe in part because of that) he's never really honed his D and has been staggered once too often for my liking by low quality opposition. Someone who can walk right through and take his best licks, and keep aggressively laying some heavy hands back on him (and Briones seems to fit that bill) could be his undoing. It could be Ponce De Leon-Bautista all over again. Or, it could be Lopez-Ponce De Leon. :yep

Yeah, Karmazin's corner intervened. Reportedly his output kept dimming over the middle/later rounds and he was just taking shots. He never went down that I'm aware of.
