So PP, would you say it's accurate that all his losses happened pre-prime (bivins, overlin) or post prime (marciano x2)

I would argue that he had SOME prime losses but with his level of competition he faced, it was expected

Why not? He beat pretty much everyone. Louis, Moore, Bivins, Jersey Joe, Maxim, Ray, Marshall, Burley. I'd struggle to find 5 names better in boxing history (he is my 6th but he probably should be ahead of Duran, but I'm not dropping him from my top 5)

    1. Langford
    2. Greb
    3 Armstrong
    4. Robinson
    5. Ali

That's my top 5, An he most definately is a better fighter than Duran, outside of lightweight I was never big on Duran. Just in my opinion these 5 should be on lock. I wouldn't call you crazy for switching him with Ali though. I dont like to have Ali in my 5 Because I really am not a fan of his at all, but His resume is just outright amazing.

Ali's resume is amazing, but nowhere near as good as Ezzard's.

    :good

Charles was clearly the best ever at LHW. Ali was probably the best HW ever. Thats the difference for me. I have Ali 7. Joe Louis 11 for all those interested.

i would disagree and say that ali is the clear best HW ever however charles definitely has more depth is his resume and it's not just because he dominated multiple divisions, he dominated numerous fighters in the top 20 p4p all time.

I dunno, the more and more I watch Louis, the more k think he was more 'complete' than Ali. Obviously I'm in the minority tho, so I'm probably wrong

And I completely agree, it wasnt that Ezzard dominated a division, he dominated fighters who are in my top 25 all time (Moore, Louis, Burley, Bivins), as well as top 15 HW Jersey Joe along with Elmer Ray and Joey Maxim.

It should be noted that I really rate Bivins and Maxim highly tho

I think there is a case that while brilliant he wasn't the finished article for the Bivins and Marshall losses, when he was still only 22. He went unbeaten from 44-52 (8years) against great opposition. Against Marciano he was 32 and 33 and both Greb and Armstrong were both retired before they were 32. I certainly think he was a faded force by then, his strength was he was very much an athletic boxer and that was never going to have great longevity

really good point. i always considered him a bit past prime after the way but except for the already addressed elmer ray loss (legit or not) he had a great run until 52 and seemed to be at his best

If you watch him on film he looks pretty horrible though. I know he had that great run but I half wonder if he caught people at the right time
