People need to stop getting so worked up when Sonnen opens his mouth. He's an actor, playing a part to get as much attention as he possibly can. And whether you want to admit it or not, such antics work.
His calling out of Silva last night has created a huge buzz about a rematch, and Dana would be an idiot not to make it happen.

And after last night's performance against Stann, you can't say he's just all talk as he backed it up by seriously kicking a top middleweight's butt.

I am almost dying of laughter at Boinko telling non-Sonnen fanboys to not get worked.

The Stann fight was a setup. There wasn't a better fight for Sonnen to come in and look great. Stann has always struggled against wrestlers and lacks the bottom game to be dangerous off his back.

So sure Sonnen looked very impressive but it was in a fight designed for him to impress.

does stann even have td defense or submission skills? chael's obvioiusly a top mw but stann seemed somewhat tailor made for him unless sonnen wanted to stand and slug with him. plus he's still a douchebag

It's a full time job telling non-Sonnen fanboys to not get worked up because they lose their **** everytime Chael opens his mouth. Very thin skinned bunch.

But hey, if what you say is true, let's bring on the Silva rematch. All the Silva fans who are so darn confident that Anderson will beat Sonnen will have their day to brag when Chael gets KO'd or submitted.

But what I really think is happening is that Silva fans want us to believe Sonnen doesn't deserve a rematch because they are afraid of what might happen in one.

And for the record, I don't have a huge investment in Sonnen as a fan. I respect his ability, and I love to watch him get under people's skin. But I would actually enjoy seeing him lose again to Silva just because it's fun to watch a loud mouth get silenced.
Similarly, it would be great to see Silva get beat up for 5 rounds just to see his die hard fans commit group suicide.

It's a win win for me!

****, now that he's allowed to use testosterone after abusing it, ILLEGALLY. Are so many of you too stupid to realize the best way to have low test is to abuse hormones so the testosterone rebound never returns to normal levels? Really? That dumb?

I feel sorry for you Chael fans. Guy gets popped for abusing hormones, in his loss to Anderson Silva. He has a history of being weak against the submission, but for some reason he gets matched up with Stann, who is a great striker but is very limited in his ground defense and was way over his head against Chael's takedown ability.

You act like it's some huge accomplishment for Chael to beat Stann, when Stann is the type of fighter he thrives on, at least on paper. Here Stann is, showing he can out bang some of the more dangerous bangers but seems to have to prove himself against a wrestler. Meanwhile Chael can act like god damned Hulk Hogan and draw so much bull**** hype that all you fake ass fans panties get all wet, and here goes Dana making the next Chael vs. Silva fight.

Since when does Chael dictate where fights happen? He just lost one fight ago and was banned from the sport for a year. He comes back, doesn't even defeat a submission fighter, and "earns" a title shot?

Yeah I'm mad. I thought some of you were smart fans. Hopefully when Silva comes in healthy and slaps a sub on this hormone induced Coulter clone you will chill the **** out and pull the Chael Sonnen lifelike dildo's out your assholes.

You guys are too sensitive. MMA is sports entertainment much like the NBA, NFL etc. Nothing more.

Doesnt matter, Chael will take Silva down and Silva needs to submit him. People can hate as much as they want and nothings changing that fact.

To tell you the truth, people cant stand Silva either. This is the same guy who in the middle of the economic downturn shat on the PPV paying fans by giving us the Cote, Leites and Maia in that order. Absolutely no intent of fighting and got boooed deservingly. For once I can side with Dana for being furious at the time. Why would you be a fan of Silva again when he desnt care one bit and shits on fans by wasting their hard earned $$???

Yet Silvas still great. I have him p4p#1

With Chael, hate him or love him, he puts on a show in and out of the cage.

I'm confused. Are we supposed to do a 180 on Sonnen because he just beat a guy who ALWAYS gets tooled by wrestlers? I saw the same guy that I've seen for years in there last night. He's a dominant wrestler. I can respect that about him but nothing else. I'm in my 30s, so I haven't found the WWE style **** talking to be entertaining for a long ****ing time.

For you maybe. When I see him wrestle, I see a very skilled guy with some major holes in his defense, and yet to prove he can employ his game against fairly skilled submission fighter.

When I hear him talk, I hear god damned Rick Flair/Hulk Hogan brother, whatcha gonna do when the Sonnenster sticks his weenie in you? People respond like they are 12 year old girls hearing New Kids on the Block in their hayday.

Seems you like WWE.. Cool, but I don't like this aspect of marketing in MMA. People can talk **** about sensationalism and freak shows in Japan, good for calling it like it is. But this is just as bad if not worse.

Hahaha i dont watch wrestling but MMA is sports entertainment and Chael like it or not helps promote fights. Mma has passed its peak and they need to stabilize their market or fall into oblivion. Guys like Rampage whether a criminal or not helps markt the sport.

I really cant hate the guy because i like all MMA fighters but compared to someone like Floyd jr in boxing, chael isnt all talk and asks for the best.

    I guess.

The direction the sport is going with his sort of entertainment and promotion is repulsive to me.

Maybe I'm over-reacting but Chael and his methodology reminds me of what captivated me as a young child watching the Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan and all that. You know my background, but when I see a Brazilian, or maybe some time in the future it will be Cain in there fighting some, "All American Wrestler" type.. Hearing the chants, "USA, USA."

No. That's not good. It's been heading in this direction for a while.

He gets the best because he has a big mouth. He still hasn't managed to get past a decent to good submission fighter, yet he can break the rules, be banned for a year, get a more than favorable matchup and then get a shot at the title.

Bingo! You guys can say what you want about Sonnen, the guy is 90% hype. He is WWE meets UFC a talking head. His claim to fame is losing to Anderson Silva, jacked on PED's. His mouth is making him opportunities not his skill set.
