Who ranks higher in your ATG lists, Morales or Mayweather?

Hi guys, apologies if this has been done before, but there was a thread on the general asking this question which i found interesting, who ranks higher Money or El Terrible?

Erik has two wins on his record against MAB and Manny plus a few good names, is that enough to put him ahead of Floyd who although never really testing himself against the elite, has quite a few good scalps even if they are only B level or faded A level fighters?

Im on the fence, but as it stands for me Morales schooling of Manny might just sway me, because Mayweather doesn't have that defining night of greatnes imo

    In terms of

    Resume
    Dominance
    Longevity

    Is this a serious Q?

In terms of resume, depending on how you see the 3 Barrera fights (I had Barrera coming out on top mind) and adding the win over Pac, Morales could well have a better series of names on his than Mayweather.

I looked at this recently myself, and I would have to credit Floyd Mayweather Jr as having the deeper resume.

Names like Junior Jones, Kevin Kelley, and Daniel Zaragoza are great on paper, but none of those fighters were anywhere near their best at the time. Jones was coming off a loss, Kelly was 4-4, and Daniel Zaragoza would never fight in a professional ring again.

The likes of Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, and In Jin Chi are Morales' best victories after the obvious two, but Floyd beat two of these men himself, and before the Mexican.

Floyd Mayweather Jr ranks higher in every category for me. Resume, ability, longevity, and achievements.

As I said before, it depends whether you value depth over a few great single wins, or the reverse.

In my opinion, Morales has greater wins over Pacquiao and Barrera, and while he doesn't have too many outstanding additional wins aside from that, I can't say that Mayweather's much deeper resume of very good but not great opposition can top it in terms of achievement. Though it is close for me.

Prime for prime Mayweather was simply better. That should definitely count for more than people seem to let on.

im pretty much of the same opinion, morales has that achievement which floyd doesnt, it is made very close by floyds record being much deeper than eriks, but eriks best nights being much better than floyds

"Better" isn't about looking good or appearing to have more tools than the next guy. Floyd certainly has a case, but it's based on achievements in the ring, not hypothetical H2H ability.

I'm not talking about hypotheticals, I'm talking about what they actually showed in the ring. Straight up.

I think what you show in the ring only counts if it pays off with the better wins. Floyd's resume is deeper, so he has an argument, but if one considers Morales's best wins more deserving of high rank, then he doesn't have to look nearly as good in the ring, as long as he gets them won and shows us what he can actually accomplish with what he shows.
