Yep, fighting for a career high payday live on HBO on St.Paddy's day. You've got to feel for the bloke. :-(

exactly. This is everything any profssional boxer works towards their whole career. I dont see how this is career suicide. Ok, he'll most likely lose, but you never know until you get in there and give it a go....

    :good

it seems success for a lot of posters in the Brit forum is to get a WBO trinket, defend it in a leisure centre and then get a former, well past it champ to knock over:dead occasionally.

fighters fight. fighters lose. people want to see fighters in good fights and even if they lose in good fights, want to see them again

couldnt agree more! I think macklin is more deserving than Barker of a tilt and would cause Martinez more trouble

Martinez finishes him. Macklin is smaller and slower than Barker.

Fight Lee. IT'll be big, competative and interesting. But he'd still lose!

Macklin can't do what Darren did and make it his own, Against Sturm who started slow and seemed reluctant to throw anything allowed Matthew to get inside and work early. Good tactics from Joe and Matthew nearly got them the title that night.

With Martinez he can come in behind high full guard but Martinez will throw leads and body shots and just work enough to win rounds whilst marking up Macklin and stopping him around 9 or 10.

Barker did some smart things i just don't see Macklin being able to stay as patient and as precise with his punches.

He deserves his shot at Martinez and I applaud his willingness to fight the top dog in the division. Can't see anything other than Martinez win. Martinez is old though, it can't be too long before father time comes a calling.
