Once again, I call bull****. Nobody was trying to arrange a match between Dempsey and Darcy. Hell, nobody even knew who Dempsey was in early 1917. Just a few months earlier he had fled New York to get away from John Reisler his manager and was forced to ride the rods back West. When he got there he was broke, self managed, and willing to pick up any fights he could for extra spending money. By his own admission he was very near giving up the game. In February he was knocked out by Jim Flynn and it would be until later in the year that he was picked up by Jack Kearns, who was also on the coast and several thousand miles away from Darcy. So, tell me, who was trying to promote a fight between Dempsey and Darcy, and who were these "handlers" who travelled all the way from Utah to New York to view a private sparring session between Fulton and Darcy? Was it his brother Bernie? Nope, he was out west with Jack. Was it Fred Winsor? Nope, he was in Utah also. Was it John Reisler? Not likely, Reisler had no expectation of ever seeing Dempsey again, he certainly wasnt going to waste his time trying to match him when he had other fighters in his stable to look after. So, no, once again, this eye witness account (which it wasnt even that) is full of holes.


It must be said that you need to reacquient yourself with the difference between first and second hand sources.

Since you addressed this to "all others" I'm going to assume that this includes the "water mammal" that you told to "f**k off".

What I DO know is that "krumdon" utilizes primary sources and demands that others do the same. From what I know of you, you tend to quote people who weren't even at the event in question, in this case Jack Dempsey.

Any unbiased observer would put more weight in Klompton's sources than yours.

This stuff reminds me of people who defend the whole Ketchel-Papke "sucker punch" myth. In defending the myth they quote sources that appeared years (sometimes decades) after the "fact" and writers/researchers who were not even born when the fight took place.

I must have missed a post, I thought he was talking about the FULTON thing,.... in case your wondering, it can't be Bobby Fulton the great Manly and Australian Rugby League player,.. mate that was in the 70's, so it's not that Fulton.... Klumptastic, has distorted some of the truth in those sources..... the fact is mate, he refuses all proof that does not fit his agenda..... Most of his sources are tainted by the efforts Darcy's enemies in Australia, he sneers and says "where did that money come from ?",...... well between McIntosh, Baker, Billy Hughes's goverment and also the U/S. government putting pressure here, a bit there, a threat to ban boxing here and a bit there. It all boils down to Hughes's fanatical efforts to force conscription on Australia, which is one way of eroding democracy......... Now do you really think Klompy knows more Australian history than I do ??? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really ??... You can't begin to talk about this whole saga without having real understanding of the politics of two nations. And a decent knowledge of how the war affected these two massive nations, (it's quite a long way from Cairns to Perth). This was a massive political storm and Darcy is the pawn.

You are right. Everyone doesnt often lie, but people do, Dempsey just seems to be caught doing it more frequently than most. But he was also in the news more often so that could be a factor as well.
