Haye vs Ademek would be a really interesting fight and one that I could actually give Haye credit for winning (if he won), so it figures he didn't take it.

I saw Haye vs Adamek or Arreola as pickems. They would have been interesting.

    Right.

Not only the money, his ego won't let him stay away for very long, either

Between the money and ego, he'll be back in the ring within a year, if not less.

It's a sad, sad thing - the greatest contribution Haye made to the boxing world was retiring.

He brought undeniable excitement, even if he couldn't quite back it up.

He bought excitement for anyone who couldn't see right through him.To anyone who could see right through him, he just brought irritation. As the majority of the planet aside from Britain could see right through him (and to be honest, an awful lot of Brits could also see right through him) then overall, he was just irritating.

unusual for a guy to retire in his prime, yet not at his prime weight.

Haye could have made for some exciting fights in the 'B' division of heavyweights along with some nice HBO paydays, but I guess being considered second tier just isn't something his ego could withstand.

He was discredited against Wladimir as a genuine threat to a Klitschko, but that applies to everyone else, too. I didn't love his personality, but Haye/Arreola could have been fun. Oh, well.

If this is true and he stays retired, good news.
